Brady vs Belichick: The Verdict

In the end, he lasted just three more seasons anyway. As I've said, the Tampa thing solidified his legacy more than possibly winning another one here, which probably wouldn't have happened, especially given where the roster was. It stinks, but "it is what it is" and I'm glad it worked out for him.
Stuck a little dagger in the 'system quarterback' narrative, a nice consolation prize.

It's not Brady vs Belichick. It's Brady and Belichick.

Check out this clip of Edelman and Gronk where Gronk said Belichick called him 50+ times but he didn't answer:

When you realize how bad the presence of Guerrero screwed up the Patriots, it's mind boggling. What Gronk isn't talking about here is the fact that Guerrero was telling Gronk to ignore the Patriot coaches, so they tossed Guerrero from the facility. So Gronk became furious. But this act is also what enraged Brady and soured his relationship with Belichick. Ironically, when the Krafts reinstalled Guerrero in 2019 this is what really angered Belichick. Guerrero is the Yoko Ono of the Patriots.

I am really reticent to join the fray on this, but...

I am of the opinion that it's not just one thing that did it. It's a multitude of things. Among them, not in any particular order:

The above Guerrero situation.
Malcom Butler Benching.
Outside sources telling Tom he was the GOAT and didn't need to put up with Bill's horsechit.
Belichick's shrinking circle of trust post-Mangini.
Bill's personnel decisions post Aaron Hernandez.

This is the gazillionth time this has been argued, go back in the time machine when Drew got hit and the job was allegedly passed to Brady TEMPORARILY... BB had the balls to stick with Brady and not give it back to Drew. There was a stink in the papers (Shaughnessy, Borges & other scribes were hugely upset at this decision). Drew also voiced his displeasure as he was "promised" he woiuld get the job back. Drew could walk on water in those days...
BB stuck to his belief in Brady, if he didn't this whole thing might have ended differently.
Then he built the team around Brady.. the rest is history.
For me the answer is easy they were both responsible for our dynasty, it may not have happened if BB went back to Drew as he supposedly promised.
I would add to this something else.

Kraft is on record that he thought Bill was wrong to go with Brady, and that he was considering firing Belichick.

Belichick was aware of how dangerous the decision was for his career. He told fellow coaches that they were all on thin ice. But Belichick had also experienced this once before. He wanted to move on from Kosar before the start of the 1993 season but Modell forbade it. So the Browns waited an entire year to finally install Testaverde as the QB. As soon as they did, they won a playoff game that year. But the fans were livid that Belichick gave Kosar the heave-ho, and Modell acted accordingly.

Belichick had already lived through the replacement of a QB legend in Cleveland, so he knew the stakes when he did the same thing in New England.

Ted is still upset.

Word of advice: never cross Ted.

You'll never hear the end of it.

Worse, this guy might actually show up to your house, loaded.
Unless you're Vince Wilfork.

Thought I read somewhere that big Vince and Bianca were divorced? Didn't know that.

Bob Kraft's legacy will go down as the owner who had the GOAT QB and HC and let them both go, only to have the team go down the toilet soon after. Then there's the Belichick hit piece. That was a very bad idea.

AND he has the Greatest player of all time a part time owner of a rival AFC team., Any other franchise wouldve tried to keep brady as part of their organization . How did the krafts not make Brady an offer is beyond me,

I don't get why Davis did it from what I understand these franchises just print money who gives that away.

This is like saying Bill's legacy will go down as the coach who pushed the GOAT QB out the door when he couldn't win before or after him. The reality is more people will remember it going as long as it did than that it inevitably ended. If Brady had some long career in Tampa or Bill was ever going to have some Andy Reid style resurgence on another team, maybe it would be looked at differently. But the truth is, nobody is going to weigh losing 3 years of Tom (imo only 2 being good) while probably seeing Bill's final NFL game coached and saying that is bigger than the 20 years they had.

A big difference is the Raiders made Brady the Jon Elway of their team like when Elway was basically running the Broncos. I don't think the Patriots were willing to have Brady step on either Bill, Mayo's or now Vrabel's toes.

The Raiders are a mess and probably want that credibility. The Patriots probably aren't as interested having Vrabel report to Brady.

8-0 not 9-0. Also Tom was doing no such thing and the defense was just a product of playing a very easy schedule up to that point. Nothing more.
The defense was #1 in the league, by season's end the offense sank to 17th in scoring. Tom was dealing with two separate injuries. Unfortunately for you facts aren’t your friend.
