Travis Hunter

Which would be Graham, and hope Barmore returns.
That's my thought, but we need so much talent all over that I can be talked out of that, too.

But let's assume that we're going to be like Bill's Pats, and become a better team and not have a chance to pick this high again. Who is the guy we need to grab now because we won't have a chance at someone like that again?

I don't mean to ignore them and I'd be glad to take either.

But given our needs at OL and WR I think Hunter or Carter are the only prospects we'd overlook that for.
I think we go after OL and WR enough in free agency so we're picking less for need and more for solid pieces to build upon.

My own preference is for veteran OL maybe even via trade if we can't sign one.

WR is a little different the excitement of a flashy top 5 WR has me like a cat on a laser (@SammyBlueCat tell us a little about cats and lasers). I can push that excitement aside for Carter but so far no one else has me excited enough to not want Tet.

Lets just hope that free agency goes better than last year as it didnt move the needle much. I think this year after players got to see Maye and see the entirely new coaching staff they will be more likely to considering joining the Pats. Oh and we have to be willing to burn some cash

I don't think Vrabel will let Wolf sit on all the cash and ignore all the good defensive pieces in free agency like last time.

Not necessarily just because they are both DTs doesn't make them the same level of prospect. From what I read Carter is the closest thing to that level but he might go before we pick. I want both Hunter and Carter more than McMillan but if they both are gone then I want the shiny toy.

1) If Hunter is there at #4 take him and put him primarily at WR. He’s a weapon out there.

2) Trade a 3rd for Kupp (I know some are down on this, but his smarts and route running could really excel in McD offense)

3) Sign Alaric Jackson

4) Sign Morgan Moses

QB: Maye
RB: Stevenson/Gibson
WR: Hunter
WR: Kupp
WR: Douglas
TE: Henry
LT: Jackson
LG: Strange
C: Andrews
RG: Onwenu
RT: Moses

I know we see a need for a real WR1 and WR2, but what if Vrabel/McD think they only need a WR1 and someone of Bourne/Boutte/Polk can be WR2?

I really think free agency is going to be about filling as many holes as they can so that they aren't drafting for need, which is often a mistake.

Luckily there really isn't a flashing top 5 WR in the draft...Hunter might have been that guy if he focused on WR, but as it stands now there isn't a WR worth taking.

I hope the FO realizes while the GB model of draft/develop can work, you need to have pretty high floor for it. We need to try to get to that floor via FA.

Agreed. And I think Vrabel is going to try to build that floor very quickly across the whole team. I expect a 2001-style makeover of the Pats depth. Anyplace we can improve, we should improve.

I’m all about BPA for the next few drafts. Fill need in FA when you can. We need talent and lots of it. If the staff feels that Travis Hunter is BPA vs, say an Abdul Carter then take him. Let where he’s going to play sort itself out. Me personally, I like Hunter and then I don’t. His light frame concerns me but dude is electric, gotta give him that.
The Tyquan Thornton of pass rushers?

I think Graham is the guy they can count to produce long term. Not Vince Wilfork, but a really good DT who can disrupt the QB and give Vrabel the kind of line he wants to run. If Barmore does return they could run a 3 man front of Barmore and Graham on the ends and Godchaux in the middle, with White going back and forth between hand on the ground and a pass rushing end.

I wouldn’t give up a 3rd for a 31 year old WR.

If he is indeed the best prospect in the draft, he won't be available at 4.
He will if the three teams above us do not share that evaluation. They all could be wrong and pass. There is no consensus "best prospect" this year.
