Schottenheimer, by my count, has had five stints as OC. One in college (Georgia), three in the NFL (STL, IND, SEA), and one in hell (JEST).

Also, Mayo reminds me of when the Bucs promoted Raheem Morris to HC, firing Jon Gruden, b/c they supposedly were afraid they were going to lose Morris to another team. Of course, the key difference between the two is that, at the time, Gruden hadn't given the Bucs the justification for moving on that Belichick did with Kraft in '22 and '23.
Nothing Justified moving on from Bill so quickly. And we are lucky that we were able to get Vrabel because the **** storm that was Mayo could have repeated many times before finding a good one.

I more meant last year instead of a lame duck year with McCarthy
Jerry could have got him... you think bill would have let him sign dak before the season... lmao...

We know that Bill the dude and Tom are good with the past now..

But bill the coach doesn't give a **** about qbs. Either produce or its time to move on
( which was stupid as **** after a dynasty qb... when they should have aged out into the sunset together)

Bill would have eventually got another qb in New england...(now we have two bad asses)

Last year would have been really close to .500 with Bill.

Jurrrry is an idiot.

They are. Provided that Jurrah can still be the real head coach of the Cowboys
He's got more power now... McCarthy could at least try and talk sense into him.

Ive never seen so many unqualified head coach candidates in the past 2 years than ever in the nfl.

Im 40ish... am I missing something?

That's an interesting way to put it and you might be onto something. We've all got used to him being the GM. But with this hire it's almost like he wants sideline coordinators and he can be HC without being on the sidelines.

the drafting part he does well with... its just everything else he meddles with that kinda screws things up

You’re not alone. I thought I was the only one seeing this, but I’ve noticed this for quite some time. Even during the Pats second run going to 8 straight AFCCG’s, I’ve noticed the product as a whole (players and coaches) dropping off. It’s now the worst I’ve seen since watching in the early 90’s.

The fact it was either him or Jason Witten should tell you all you need to know that whoever is coach will just be a proxy for Jerry who has continued to be the Head Coach for the Dallas Cowboys for the majority of the time since Jimmy Johnson left. He wants people who will do what he tells them to do, period. Owners that do this in business will fail for the most part. He just has the ability to keep pulling this **** because he’s in a situation where he cannot lose money on the value of the Cowboys and he gets to the be the real star of the organization.

That’s why the job isn’t attractive. Jones is the GM. Jones wants all the credit. Jones wants his culture in place, and that culture is “Dallas treats the players like royalty”, Jones wants to be the one taking questions from reporters. Jones wants the coach to be his errand boy and not rock the boat.

People ***** about Kraft wanting more credit than he’s due, but at least he didn’t hijack the franchise so he could be the only one to get credit

Jerry looked like the cryptkeeper today. He might not live until the 2025 SB, let alone next SB win !

That old decrepit dude is your GM ?!

Hasn’t like half the league fired him as their OC? He was working with the Sanchise. I can’t recall him even being suggested as a potential head coach in 15 years.

Schotty is more name than game, just like Dak Prescott.

I'll be amazed if the Cowboys have more success with Schotty than they did with McCarthy.

Jerry Jones cannot get a front line coach to run his team because he wants a coach who does his bidding. They won't win until he decides to get out of the way.
I can tell you the moment Jerry Jones gets out of the way: when he crosses the rainbow bridge. His ego is gigantic. He will never give up control voluntarily.
