I think of Daniel Jeremiah as being the gold standard when it comes to how the NFL view these prospects and his first first round mock is out today.

1. Has us taking Will Campbell at 4 unsurprisingly. I'd be a little disappointed at that but obviously understand the need. I like Campbell, but even excluding his arm length, I've soured a bit on his film; he gives up too much to the inside and just doesn't look to be the dominating type you look for from a LT taken so high. Not accounting for the clear need, it just feels like a waste of such a high pick.

2. Having said that, Carter and Hunter are off the board with the first two picks so Graham would have been the only real alternative.

3. We're getting wiped out on DTs a bit if we'd want one at 38. Graham, Nolen, Grant, Sanders and Harmon all go in the 1st.

4. Tyler Warren goes at 7 to the Jests.

5. Some surprising-ish names on this mock. Tyler Booker, Jahdae Barron, Jihad Campbell, Nick Emmanwori, Matthew Golden and Azareye'h Thomas all go in the first.

6. Azareye'h Thomas going in the first doesn't surprise me. Brian Broaddus (a former scout who does Cowboys draft content) said that a GM told him that Thomas would go first round.

I think if the draft were to go this way I'd be hoping one of the following falls to 38.

  • Emeka Egbuka
  • Jack Sawyer
  • Tyleik Williams
  • Wyatt Milum (for RT)

NB Yet to watch Nic Scourton.

Really hoping we get the LT in FA Trade down and get a Tackle like Aireontay Ersery. I really liking him and think he will test very well.

@manxman2601 what's your take on. Luther Burden?? I know he had a tough year last season due to QB play. But the year before he was super in 2023.

I haven't focused on him because I've not thought we're in contention for him as I don't think he slips to 38. I will look at him though.

Likewise unimpressed with Campbell on continued views. Maybe I'm a curmudgeon in my old age. We'll see how things shake out in the coming months, but I'm still firmly in the trade down camp at present.

@PatsFan2 I could see Burden being a fine #2, but I'm baffled by all the first round buzz. Boring player to me. Safe, not spectacular. I don't see it.

I'm not thrilled with his 24 tape: it's said he have some Deebo Samuel in him. After a workout I'm not opposed in the Second I am going watch him at the combines.

I think we need Shedeur to have a really good Shrine Game to encourage someone like the Saints to want to jump the Raiders. I like Campbell enough as a first rounder but he's not my no 1 pick at the position and I don't think he's worthy of a top 10 pick.

Shedeur is skipping the game

I think his injury might be the issue for Simmons in that scenario.
That and only 5 games at LT, did not go up against high end competition, and Donovan Jackson played well in his place.

I agree, however, that 29 is quite low for him outside of the injury issue. I’m expecting Simmons to go top 15 along with Campbell and Banks, with Ersery, Conerly, Williams and possibly Milum also going in the first round. Membou and Mbow are other possibilities. Other guys I think will be in the mix in the first two rounds with potential “Thuneyesque” flexibility include Donovan Jackson, Jonas Saviinaea, and Grey Zabel.

The need for OT is at a crisis level in the NFL, pretty much every team needs at least one. We will see overpays for the better free agents, which is why I don’t see Stanley or Alaric Jackson getting to FA. If they and Cam Robinson aren’t acquired, we are looking at old timers Tyron Smith or Kelvin Beachum, D.J. Humphries, or guys lime Geron Christian. They’d be upgrades over the dreck from this year but still would need a prospect behind him that has potential to develop into the longer term solution at LT1.

From what I've watched Simmons has the best tape. I really liked what I saw of Donovan Jackson too. He would make a very good value pick if he doesn't go first round.

Josh Conerly Jr.
Best LT in the draft that nobody is talking about.
Might be able to trade down a bit and still grab him.
Pats HAVE to get a starter 1st round even if it's a bit of a reach

He's definitely on my radar but as you said we would likely have to get in a good spot mid-late in the 1st to maximize the value.

This is my first mock that I've posted this year, because it's just too beautiful not to share with the world. You're welcome:
