First Meaningless 2025 Mock

Pats trade pick 4 with Seattle (Ward) for 18 (Banks), 50 (Nolen), 135 (Monangai), and Seattle's 2026 1st round pick.

Pats trade picks 37 and 142 with Houston (Campbell) for pick 58 (Sawyer) and Houston's 2026 2nd and 3rd round picks.

Pats build from the inside out with their first three picks. Get their needed free safety in Mubuka. BPA at offensive skill positions with picks 77, 106, and 135. Set themselves up with significant draft capital in 2026.

Pats stay put in this draft and address skill areas with BPA approach. With Carter gone at number 4, Pats take Hunter. Pats are banking on Jackson becoming Maxx Crosby 2.0. Draft another wiry WR at 77 in Johnson (at least it's a 3rd round pick and not another doomed 2nd round WR). The top OTs are gone by pick 37 so the Pats draft a developmental OT at 106 in Mbow. (This feels like a Wolf draft, and I don't like it...)

That's a fun mock. I'd take it for the there 2026 picks alone. I also love the Mukuba pick.

Decided to have another crack at it. Some notes first:

1. I'm starting to have a real problem with the LT position. As far as I see it, the position can only be fixed in FA or in the first round of the draft. There are limited options for a LT that can help immediately beyond a small handful of first round picks. Most others don't have the size or length or are developmental prospects.

2. So this mock is predicated on us having signed a LT, 2x WR and probably a CB2 in FA.

3. I've taken Graham over Carter reluctantly but have done so because Graham is a tone setter and 3 down impact player.

4. I'm projecting Wyatt Milum to LG and Marcus Mbow to C in this mock although I do think Mbow has a chance to stick at RT.

5. By the way, Mbow is a wow athlete for his size. So smooth in space, he reminds me of Shaq and Ali Marpet. I saw one play in which he ran like a TE getting to the 2nd level in support of a screen pass including a 90 degree cut which would embarrass some TEs.

6. Have a guess who the three highest graded run defenders are in this draft. I'll give you a clue; they're all in this mock.

Mel has his first mock out over on ESPN.
Top 5
1. Ward
2. Hunter
3. Sanders
4. Pats - Abdul Carter
5. Jax - Mason Graham

I think Vrabel and our new DC Williams will have a lot of input who we take. If it comes down to Carter/Graham.

I've been almost exclusively taking Carter at 4 or a trade back.

Today I took Graham. Got too cute with trade downs in the 2nd and missed out on Ersery or Conerly.

Walker scares me. Huge upside but I really don't like the fact that he was worse this year than last and someone who is 345lbs should not be having mid percentile run defense grades. If he hits that's a great DL for the next half decade, I'm just worried he'll bust. I like the Mukuba pick a lot and Bech is one of my favourite receivers for the Pats but I think 118 is wishful thinking (I realise that's what the simulator gave you so not a criticism).

Can he break the TCU WR curse?? They have Great tapes in College and meh in the NFL.

@manxman2601 I hope our Coordinators have a say in the Draft and FA. Our OC and DC should have to say on their preferred Players.

So long as it's not the final say. McDaniels doesn't have a great track record on that score.

Well we know in the case of Terrell that he likes violence lol

That describes Peebles.

I was just about to watch him. Have you had a look at Ty Robinson of Nebraska? 6-6, 310lbs and has 42 total QB pressures last season. Only Derrick Harmon has more.

Very nice!
