What a bummer.

Desperation hire.
I feel you TRM. But, let's just chill a bit and see what happens. I was hoping for someone else, but I'm going to try to be optimistic regarding Josh. Look on the bright side, Mayo is not still HC!!!

Why would anyone care about that? Josh will be babysat by Vrabel. McDaniels was awful when he was not babysat, but that is irrelevant to the present situation because he will be babysat by Vrabel. Why did you post that concern?
Vrabel holds coaches accountable as well as players, so I imagine that he will keep McD in check when he gets douchey

If V is able to install accountability and that the front office is able to acquire talent, the next season will be much more watchable. Too many times, I didn’t feel like people cared if the team won or lost. Effort was lacking. V needs to get everyone - coaches included - pulling towards success.

I like the idea of 2 WRs coaches
1 for slot and one for the vertical guys.

Tackles are the key to unlocking this offense. The prevailing wisdom is that teams don't let good tackles go to FA so the draft is the only realistic source. If there are no proven tackles available in FA, I would like to see the team do some homework and find some diamonds in the rough. Maybe Cowden can help with that.

I think Conerly is the best tackle in the class. My concern is that people are going to figure that out and he will rise so high up draft boards they will have to use their #4 to get him.

True. And those are the very things that V has already demonstrated. Physically and mentally tough players and not tolerating repeated mistakes (including from his coaches), are things that he's big on and that this team has been sorely lacking, even the last 3 years that Bill was here (as I suspected that Bill started going soft on his players in those area's). I hope it wasn't because RK made him ease up. And if it was, that RK learned his lesson and V already made that known to RK as one of the conditions of his accepting the HC Job. That V would push the players as V saw fit.

I just don't care if its 2025 or 1925...Josh is a good coach. You don't have 6 super bowl rings by accident (4 of those years he was either QB coach or OC). He is arguably the best OC the Patriots have ever had. He's not even 50 yo and doubtful he's going to be a HC any time soon.
He had Tom Brady
At this point he's like Adam Gase hopefully I'm wrong

If he is the real deal then they should do it. There are no sure fire candidates at other positions so it makes sense to draft the position of need.

Got a good year out of rookie Mac Jones. Got a good year out of Cassel. Got a decent year out of Kyle Orton. Didn't get anything out of anyone in STL but he had an injured Bradford and Kellen Clemens/AJ Feely starts to backfill. Had Jimmy G looking good in his short stint of playing time. Cam Newton wasn't good but the team was terrible and I though the salvaged that ok. The Brisset stint as a rookie was ok too before he played with a broken hand.

I'd argue that, considering who the QBs were and where they were at in their careers, he did pretty well without Brady. He had Cassel playing for the first time since high school, Mac Jones (and Brissett for a game) as rookies, JimmyG, playing for the first time, Cam on his last legs, Kyle Orton as a JAG. The one year in STL is the only time I think you can say he didn't legitimately do a good job developing the QB if you only look at his non Brady years.

I wouldn’t say Zero, but I think where he is at and 2 failed HC attempts I think it would take alot for him to leave.
Like Coaching a top 10 Qb on top of being a HC,
McDaniels is NEVER getting hired by an nfl team as head coach ever again. He embarrassed himself in Denver, destroyed the locker room, and was badmouthed by everyone on the team. He then left the colts at the altar before embarrassing himself a second time in LA. He was considered a BB poser and was hated by the entire team. He set the franchise back years with his awful leadership

You can’t take a tackle at 4 unless you are getting a top 5 nfl caliber tackle.
Trade down or draft a difference maker on defense someone to cause havoc on the QB, shut down a field or collapse the middle of the pocket.

I don’t see a tackle worth a top 10 pick.

What you're describing with a top 10 QB in place would be a very desirable coaching destination that likely attracts better candidates than McDaniels getting a 3rd shot.

and Patricia…

Two words: Tom Brady
Who helped develop Tom?
There were stories they would call each other all hours of the night to break down film or talk about play concepts.

We can’t act like Josh didn’t make Tom betterz
Randy Moss, Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Brady all lauded Josh.
Now Their was rumors Josh and Toms relationship soured at the end.
I think this was a combination of time in any relationship you start to hate how the other person chews or breathes or it was the fact Tom was bitter about the discounts he took only to see Aaron Dobsons come in to throw the ball to.
Or he really felt he was bigger and smarter than his coaches that the GOAT didn’t need to be told he missed a read or missed a open wr.

Eff Davante Adams we saw how soft he was when Peppers was breaking him,
I trust Jules and Moss over him.
