I thought we could use a thread to discuss both free agency and draft possibilities.

I like the ideas in this article: Perry: Five players Patriots should target this offseason

Sign Higgins, Staley, Sweat, trade for Tom, and draft Abdul Carter. This will be expensive but we have over $100 million in cap space.

It’s a bit early, but please share your ideas here.

All of that sounds great to me but most of those guys may not be available. Tee will be hard to sway imo. we don’t know if stanley and sweat hit fa. If they are YES we should pounce. And why would the packers trade tom away if he’s undervalued around the league but doing well for them?

In theory i agree 100%. Double dip at edge with a big fa and abdul carter.

Get veteran help at ot who can help immediately, even if its only a 2-3 year fix at both tackle spots. Id probably also draft an ot prospect rd 2 or 3

Sign or trade for a big name wr.

Id add cb2 to the fa list and try to grab fs/mlb middle rounds.

Thats 5 biggish money signings, easily affordable for us along with some depth

Double dip everywhere we can. I like this plan. I do agree one or all might not even wind up available at all. But for now let's assume this plan is realistic I would slightly alter and go after 2 edge rushers in free agency. This would allow us to draft Tet instead and then we double dip at WR, Edge, and Tackle. Grab a solid starting corner to pair with Gonzo and a MLB and this team will be competing next year.

Yeah, you are right on that count. Perry thinking the Pats could pry Tom away seems a bit of a head scratcher. Granted Green Bay has a high value low cost guy in Travis Glover pushing him on the depth chart but Tom is only $3M against the cap for a Packers team that has enough space. Tom is going to make bank after next season so his comp pick value will most likely be a 3rd rounder, certainly no lower than a 4th.

Not only is it hard to see Green Bay parting with him, it's not at all realistic to think they'd do it before the 2025 trade deadline. And that's just from the Packers side of the equation. From a Pats standpoint how would we all feel about giving up our high 3rd for one year of an affordable RT we'd then have to back up the money truck to keep? Just doesn't seem like a likely trade target

Whatever we can afford with quality we should fill, the more flexibility we have come draft time the better. Theres some really good players at 4 and if we don’t eff it up again someone whos a pretty solid bet to start in this league should drop to 36

Ever notice how many solid to great players (especially Edge) are taken in the 4th Round? Sweat, Judon, etc. Why can't we draft those guys?

The more quality FA's we can acquire, the better players we can target in the draft. We could get players in the draft that are both PON (not addressed in FA), AND BPA's.

Tom has been primarily used at LG.

Sign Alaric Jackson, LT. Sign Trey Smith OG. Sign Azeez Ojulari Edge. Sign Milton Williams DT.

Trade 2nd Rd pick for AJ Brown

Trade Back from #4 for 2nd and 3rd rd picks. Take Ty Warren TE, then trade 2nd and 3rd round picks to move back into the 1st and take Josh Conerly OT Oregon.

* I wanted to add either Zach Baun or Javon Holland, but I wanted to keep it somewhat realistic, and I think they could get this done if the players hit free agency.

I didn’t think the AJ Brown talk was realistic, then I heard that he was reading a book on the sidelines during a playoff game. That’s as big a FU to the Eagles as it gets, and a 2nd round pick is good trade value to the Eagles for him, especially the Patriots 2nd round pick. And I believe Vrabel wants him, and he would want to play for Vrabel again, The Eagles would also be trading him out of the conference, so I think think this is actually doable.

Why on earth would packers trade Tom, who was an all-pro right tackle this year?

I think Tee stays in Cincinnati.

Godwin could possibly go for less given his injury and surgery? I also think he would, if we go the McDaniels route, be a great addition to this offense.

I'd pass on Godwin. But maybe that's just me. I'd go with Elic Ayomanor and Savion Williams in the draft (especially if they don't get McMillan, or Egbuka, or Tre Harris). And even if they got a WR in the 1st Round, I'd still grab Ayomanor or Williams in the 3rd Round.

The Pats will have pick 38th in the 2nd round. There were three 4-13 teams. Pats will have 4th pick in 1st round, the 6th pick of round 2, and the 5th pick in the 3rd round. They will also have the 13th pick in the 3rd round from the Judon trade.

Some good suggestions but why a TE in the first round? We have so many holes and Henry was really good considering the state of the offense , I would rather have a dt de cb wr ot than a TE. I would consider TE somewhat a luxury pick which we can not afford
If we trade down a bit I would love Williams Edge from Georgia or pearce edge. I would strongly consider one of the top OT around 8-12 as well.

O-Line: Alaric Jackson OT; Cam Robinson OT; Teven Jenkins OT&G; Will Fries G; Drew Dalman C --> sign at least two of them
WR: Higgings / Godwin / Cooper / Diggs

I am not so thrilled with the idea of trey smith as i view him as a RG only where we already have onwenu. Don't know how he has LG flexibility or experience. Teven Jenkins has played OT and LG for the bears.

Defense:
DT_ Williams, Onwuzurike
DE: Chase Young, Odeyinbgo, Sweat -> 2 starters needed
LB: Nick Bolton --> replace tavai

Draft:
Mason Graham
trade up for Josh Conerly

Because Maye loves throwing to his TE’s, and Warren could end up being his long term Travis Kelce. They don’t need him so much for next season as they will long term. Henry is a good player, but he’s on the downside of his career, and he’s hurt fairly often. Get Warren in here now, get them familiar with playing together, and they may have an All Pro caliber TE for Maye to rely on when situations get tough. He’s also a really good blocker, which they could really use at the position.
