Yeah I honestly recall more impactful plays coming from Collins, Hightower, and even Brandon Spikes.
Mayo was just sort of…there.
Seems revisionist to say he was this game-changing linebacker and heart/soul of the defense.
In fact, the only superbowl he played in was a losing effort to the Giants. He had 11 tackles, but I’d be curious to go back and watch (if I could stomach that) and see how far downfield those tackles were.
If it isn’t obvious, the last few years have made me actively dislike Mayo, but there’s always the “he WAS a great player though” caveat. I’m just wondering if that too deserves scrutiny.
