Do you think that Vrabel's level of collaboration is on par with Mayo's?

Mayo was given a roster, like @RobertWeathers said. Vrabel will be given information to make decisions.

I don't know enough to have an honest opinion. Did Mayo not have any input? If the roster was all on Wolf, that would be pretty alarming that he's still part of the staff making personnel decisions going forward. I think we all agree the personnel decisions last off season was terrible, right?

Mayo had input of important subjects. Foreign policy, nuclear codes, NASA missions to Mars, **** like that. Foreign aid to Bangladesh. Minor decisions, like who to draft and who to sign, no he didn't control that. Hell, he didn't even control what RB started at the end of the season.

Yeah he might have his own grading system but I think it's too close to the draft to train all the scouts and get on the same page. I think they will roll with Wolf's and if it sucks...then time for more change. I like the addition of Cowden with Vrabel having the final say with personnel. Wolf and Cowden will provide input and Vrabel with make the decision. IMO Wolf won't make waves and what could he possibly do anyway? Run to Kraft? Kraft will tell him Vrabel makes the final decision.
How do other teams manage their drafts when they fire their GMs in January?

They usually wait till after the draft for that reason. But if they did fire in January...

A) they are stupid
b) the same grading system would be in use.

Going back the past few years, all the GMs that have been fired were either in-season or in January

Great… nothing better than a big sprawling clusterfck of collaboration when it comes to personnel, that way we won’t know who to blame when it crashes down on our heads.
I don't the hype over cowden, just looking at the giants they're as bad as we are. Its not like this guy has worked in the front office of the chiefs, philly, baltimore etc. Teams that always seem to be run really well, and stacked with talent

Wolf still being the #1 player personnel guy is nuts to me. What did he say to convince Kraft he's qualified for the job? How many trips did he take with Kraft to Israel?
Wolf is still the NE GM because Bob Kraft trusts him. Look at how much money Wolf has saved BK already. BK likes that.

All moves will have to pass through B. Kraft. Vrabel does not have complete control after the way BK complained about all the power BB had in NE.

BK is very much involved in Patriots day to day operations.

If I had to guess Wolf stays through the draft then he’s gone. Best case scenario for him is he is retained in some other personnel role.

Is the staff underneath let go too?

It would seem smart this late to at least orchestrate a transition rather than instant house cleaning.

Glad we have an inside source on the board.

No idea what happens when the top of the front office gets canned

edit: this is something we as fans have not had to deal with in over 20 years

Do I really have to post again about self harm in the off season. Jeez I need a guillotine smiley

Giants personnel is the last place I'd shop.. scrap that.. Browns is last

Bert has it totally backwards. He won't be the de facto No. 2 to Eliot Wolf; he'll be the de jure No. 2. He'll be the de facto GM
Not surprised .... when Wolf took the job I remember there was nothing
permanent the plan as I remember was he would move up after the season.

They actually let Wolf keep his job and his status as number 1.

They have learned nothing.

I told you that Wolf was staying and that Bob Kraft was and is in charge. Jonathan does not run jack poop over there.

I did not believe that Bob Kraft could pull off firing Mayo and get away with it, but he is.

This sounds like a Bobby Grier situation who was later fired.

Why dont you write Bob Kraft a letter.

It worked for NEM.
