You are delusional. It is these days quite the opposite, and you know it. Affirmative discrimination in favor of some groups and against others is publicly acknowledged policy in industry, commerce, and government. Your silly take is based on a past state of affairs long since left behind by the vast majority of Americans. That you you choose to regard minorities as helpless children, crippled by history, unable to bear any responsibility for the improvement of their lot or of competing on merit is an insult I would resent if I were a member of one of the groups you choose to keep as helpless political pets and pawns. Your "help" is doing tremendous damage to the reputations of these groups as your "beneficiaries" persistently fail at the jobs they given for which they are unqualified. The evidence of this is abundant, and the result has been an ugly decline in the relations between the races brought about by your foolishly playing into the prejudices of those who are actually racists, playing as it does directly into the arguments of such people. Thankfully, more and more blacks and Hispanics and others are coming to realize this. Get with the times.
I would like to add to your well written point by adding. How infuriating it is that 2 token candidates were interviewed today to fill a league mandated requirement. I would like to think that wasn’t the case and those two gentleman were interviewed based on their ability. Now they probably have all the football acumen required for the job, most certainly so. But they are checking a box and that is what’s most offensive of all.
Wish I was wrong, but I am not.

While Breer is right that NE would benefit from a thorough search, I think that is outweighed by the benefit of rushing to hire Vrabel this week. Why? Because he is the only “premium” candidate that is eligible to start work immediately. All other candidates that are still employed in their current positions must wait another 2 weeks to get the ball rolling, or even longer, if their team makes it past the Divisional Round.

There is a sizeable advantage to hiring arguably the most attractive coach on the market (Vrabel) and then also getting at least 2 weeks of time to start poaching staff from all other teams before the rest of the teams with vacancies even start. You’ll get your pick of the litter when it comes to OC, DC, position coaches, front office guys if Vrabel wants it… Could be huge.

Ownership would be doing its franchise a Disservice if it doesn't wait for Ben Johnson's decision first...

Disagree bud, he's proven ZERO as a HC, and that nonsense about him being a stallion OC won't matter, he won't have time for that year1.

He seems to want Vrabel in Chicago, but he has a point.
If you interview everyone you’re interested in, why would it matter how fast you go? If you know Ben Johnson is your guy after the 2nd interview, what’s wrong with making him an offer quickly?

Vrabel obviously has the experience, but I wonder what kind of offense we'll have here with him... Who's gonna be his OC? That is a HUGE question to which I don't have an answer that satisfies, yet... Will he go against his nature and instead prioritize offense in free agency & the draft? And who else will be making those free agent and draft decisions with him, Pioli? Dimitroff? Robinson? Certainly not the children Upstairs or their baby-sitter Highsmith I hope.

Why would they wait for his decision if they decide he’s their second choice?

It’s not like you to be weaseling out of stating your opinion clearly. If you think they’d be doing a disservice to the franchise by not picking Johnson as their first choice just say so. Stop beating around the bush!

Sheesh, what’s next, no expletives or profanity?

Who are you, and what have you done with our beloved Capt Stoneheart?

You're right, I will say it: Ben Johnson is indeed my first choice. Over the past Thirty Years, this franchise has had 4 HCs, ALL from the defensive side of the LOS. I want to give an Offensive-minded HC a try now, especially one without Any ties to the previous two administrations.

How much experience does Doofus Johnson have?
Dude has been put on a Pedestal with MASSIVE TALENT
How's McDaniel doing with the MASSIVE TALENT He has?

McDaniel was considered a stud not long ago...

I think he generally puts good content out there thats legit but there is smarminess to him that is off-putting.
Breer is not good on the 98.5 mid day show. If he thinks he says something clever he repeats it about 4 times with different voice intonations. Not impressive.

I agree with this while recognizing that Vrabel is the safer pick. I also think Johnson is more quirky but has more upside. The offensive genius schtick might blow up in the Krafts' face.

Patriots are interviewing Johnson virtually this week. They will be able to gauge his level of interest and have a first impression.

Yup and hopefully they consider a few more guys as teams get eliminated and the rules change slightly each week for who and how you can contact everyone.

For now it very much seems like Vrabel's job but until he's actually hired it just sets a bar that the other candidates need to meet in order to actually get any consideration. The longer we leave Vrabel out there the more he gets to consider his other offers too so we have to be careful.

For a very brief moment we are kind of in a perfect cat bird seat seemingly with a bird in hand and still an ability to at least for brief moment check out the bush too.

Mayo is going to go from being frontmost in Pats fans, to being totally forgotten and a blip in Pats history in record time.

Jerod who?

I never really liked him as a player so I'm fine with that.
A bit of trivia here.

In Spygate, a lot of people were advocating for the loss of the Pats’ higher draft pick, which was acquired from SF, rather than their own 1st round pick.

If they had lost the higher pick they would not have drafted Mayo, since they drafted him after a small trade down with that pick.

People are guessing that one of the players was Hunter Henry.

Maybe, but I thought that his TEs coach Bob Bicknell was actually one of the more capable among them, so…?
