I think soIs there a Rooney Rule for DCs too?
He seems to want Vrabel in Chicago, but he has a point.
I may be stating the obvious here. But I think the rush is Vrabel. Because Johnson thus far is only meeting with us and Chicago. Not to mention all the restrictions around him while the Lions are still in the playoffs. If they don't get blown away by Johnson in the initial interview (or any other serious candidate) then I think its a full on press towards Vrabel. And I think that is a two way street. Vrabel, if you believe the reports, wants the job. But he can't sit around for weeks waiting for the Pats to make a decision, while other jobs fill up.Sometimes it's better to rush to get the more qualified candidates...HC, OC, DC, etc. before other teams get them. But Mayo wasn't qualified...true.
Why should Kraft make an offer before completing the interview process? He should hear multiple points of view. His instincts failed him the last time.if a candidate comes in and says i want x, y, and Z. and kraft says yes, ill give you want you want. offers him position this week. who wouldnt accept the position (obviously of course, if candidate wants job).
I think he generally puts good content out there thats legit but there is smarminess to him that is off-putting.i like breer but he thinks he is smarter than he is
i have a suspicion his instincts told him to hire vrabel last time. he just liked mayo so much and wanted to be a good man and keep his word and guilt led him to hiring mayo. Why should Kraft make an offer before completing the interview process? PLEASE LMAO IF ONLY
In part the Chargers. The unfortunate thing is that we cannot fire the owners. Mayo was the Fall Guy for their incompetence, but maybe I am being too harsh and maybe Eliot Wolf deserves some of the blame. The Krafts are probably behind the pathetic FA period, but who was behind the monumental whiff on drafting Ja'Lynn Polk instead of Ladd McConkey, etc.?
Absolutely positively agree. Is while I feel his role has been redesigned. Groh also has a part in this as well. In order for us to get back to drafting, signing and development of players like we used too the front off and the next HC (Vrabel hopefully) all need to share the same vision. I don't think polk and baker are bust I believe under the right coaching and development they could become say dion branch and David givens. In part the Chargers.
We obviously didn't have to trade but we did so thinking one of the 2 WRs would be there. Unfortunately for us the second one does not appear to be anywhere even close.
Failure to asses the players properly.
And Failure to assess the trade down properly.
I'd say at least a decent part of the blame in both cases falls on Wolf if not all of the blame.
We shouldn't build a dome until Miami builds one that is air-conditioned. Of course, the Patriots could build a retractable dome and open it up when Miami comes to play on a snowstorm day.So, sacrifice the home field advantage. No more snowplow games. Dolphins will feel right at home in December.
Hopefully the plan is to rush into a place where we can pounce on Vrabel but then still interview a few more candidates still and do it honestly where we have a baseline in Vrabel that other Candidates would need to beat out. Even if that could potentially allow someone else to get after Vrabel. It benefits both sides us and Vrabel do due diligence and see all options.

Could be, but I suspect that the Krafts were meddling in the failed FA offers. I found it interesting the Wolf said, "I was expecting maybe a little bit more internal development"; this does not make me think that he is a professional. You cannot turn donkeys into thoroughbreds with more "development". You cannot go into each new season without continually upgrading the personnel at all positions. I think that they felt that the defense would be as good as the year before and did not need any major additions. Oops.Don't try to over-complicate the matter: Eliot Wolf (& Al Groh's boy) is Completely to blame for Both last year's free agency period AND the subsequent draft; and he needs to be FIRED, as in, like, Yesterday.
