I would have fired Covington long before AVP. Now, the #1 option is to hire a coach and OC that can continue to develop Maye (and Milton).

Perhaps AVP has a one-year contract and Covington has a longer one and would need to negotiate termination compensation.
=====
In any case, we need to fire Covington and Peters. A high school coach should be able to coach players to not make the kinds of penalties made by our OL, even given that we had among the very least talent of any OL in the NFL.

AVP is still with the team, as of right now.

If the new coach doesn't completely up and down change the coaching then nothing will change.

I would say just about everyone is gone.

No coach is coming here without the ability to pick his own staff. No one's taking the job with coordinators in place. Whether they choose to keep them on will be up to them.

Covington and Mayo's brother will be kicking rocks soon enough.

I thought that. The post game thread mentioned that AVP had gone but I have not seen anything saying he had been fired , maybe I missed it.

Ben Volin piggybacked off of the Mayo news on Twitter. He's the only one to "report" AVP has been fired. I suspect he'll be let go but, who knows at this point?

But yeah, there's not report other than Volin tryin to make a name for himself.

I hope at the News Conference they announce the Firing of Jabba Van Pelt...keep those Bags packed Jabba.

The defense has regressed massively under Covington

Not sure Hightower has done much to justify his role either. Too many of the coaching staff seem to want to be one of the guys.

Absolutely agree . I've said plentiful that the defense severely regressed and was in fact the most disappointing part of the team. Covington in fact should have been let go first. How would you feel about McDaniels at OC?

AVP was fired. Hopefully covington is next.
Real: only Volin is reporting it according to arch. I hope the other shoe drops I don't want to watch that Lateral Passing Offense anymore.

Don't worry his time is coming...

I hope so.

He gave Mayo a terrible off-season (Okorafor, Brissett ... *shudder*), an awful draft (Robinson, Wallace, Polk, Baker) and brought in the Browns' second-string offensive coaches (AVP, McCarthy, Peters).

With personnel decisions like that, Mayo was doomed. (Mind you, the collapse of the defense was surely his responsibility.)

I believe how the team regressed especially the last month of the season. Then the comments by Tavai. Personally I believe the decision was already made. Wolf adding that there was no player development saying polk was a day 1 starting WR. Pretty much he had his say. So hopefully the new coach will have his say on the new GM.
