1) When the Colts did their "Suck for Luck" tank job, I lambasted them. Most here did. We said that they were Coltist turds, asserted that they lacked integrity, should be punished, and suspected that we would be above that sort of thing.
2) Here we were, in a similar spot (edit: similar, but not the same, admittedly, since the Colts did a month-long tank job)
3) I wanted the Pats to play backups, try their best to win, and hopefully come up short
4) Trouble is, the Bills didn't want to win either.

So, my contrarian thought is that I am very disappointed in the pick downgrade, but not disappointed that the organization tried to win. We are not Coltish turds.

That, it seems to me, is a fine line to walk, admittedly, but avoids the stench of hypocrisy.

I will be rooting against buffalo. What they did was a sleaze bag move, and im sure their sleaze bag coach was behind it.

Not me. I recognized that it is better to suck all the way to the top pick than be one of those teams constantly finishing with 4/5/6 wins every year, especially when a potential franchise QB is going to be available.

I would love nothing more than for the Patriots to go 0-17 in 2026. It won't happen, but I wish it would.

Kraftish Schmucks.

If only the chiefs had one more loss going into today

I think there was something amiss here. They pulled Maye after 3 plays and then went to Milton, but otherwise... they generally left almost all of their starters in until the 4th quarter, even as Buffalo was pulling more and more starters off the field. It seemed to clear to me that Mayo was pushing hard for a win and may have only played Milton because he was told to do so.

If memory serves the suck for luck thing was over the course of many games. That's why people thought it was sleazy. This was one meaningless game in which the bills sat their starters as well. That's whats different in my mind. If one team can rest their 1st team because their play off seed has already been determend, Then why the hell should we play to win, especially if that team is a division rival whom has every interest in the world for us getting a worse draft? This isn't even in the same realm as "suck for luck".

Completely different. Not even on the same scale. By no means is what the Patriots did this season close to what those ****bag Colts did.

First off, the Patriots lost Brady to a knee injury in week one. Yet through talent and coaching were able to still go 11-5 miraculously missing the playoffs.

The Colts lose Manning for the season to neck surgery. (Thank god for hgh.) The same team in place that has been competing in the playoffs for 10 years and goes 2-14? Wayne, Mathis, Freeney, Saturday. Clark etc.

The Patriots sucked this year. What the Colts did was tanked on purpose the whole season.

Mayo saw the writing on the wall, saw the Bills weren’t trying to win and saw a great way to say eff you to Kraft with a win. I don’t think he was good enough coach to pull that off, but it’s a nice coincidence.

A lot of people right now in Cincy and Boston regret that week 1 result.

How they won that game I'll never know.....
I agree, they played smart, hard hitting, disciplined football which we hadn't seen in years in that game. I don't get it either

Yes 100% this. I suspect Kraft told him to play Milton

Well I was rooting for the pick but I cant blame Milton for grabbing that opportunity and giving his best. Other players as well, they are not in the draft picks game.

Another thing, the Patriots can't play games and tank clearly on purpose or Goodell will strip that pick from them.

So the Bills also didn't have any reasons to win, I can't really blame anyone, it is what it is. Mayo knew he was gone and was trying to stick it to the Krafts but otherwise I don't know the result would be much different

Colts cleaned house completely. The idea that they tanked made no sense.
