If patriots lose out, Travis Hunter could be theirs

I’m starting to lean towards McMillan more and more if we grab WR high in the first (not necessarily first overall, rather trade down a few spots). Too much negative press around Hunter and his GF, could be a headcase and a massive bust.
We’re not gonna have the 1st pick, everyone knows we’re gonna win this pointless game against buffalos practice squad.

Yup, I am sure you are being honest.

Does "people close to Belichick" raise a red flag to you? What are the names of the "people close to Belichick"? OH, everyone is anonymous? WOW, surprising. Why are these dependable sources anonymous? How close to Belichick are these people? Are these "close people" football people or media people? Can you provide details on the "close people"? Can you fill out your insightful reporting with more details than these reports are close to Belichick?
I didn't report it, Patriot reporters have said it and been out there for a while, not some new news.
I'm not saying its 100% proof but based on his history, adding the fact that reporters have said they talked to people close to BB and said he would trade down just adds to it. Nobody said they had a long discussion with BB, could be just that they know him and know he would trade down. This is more information to add to the analysis, that is all.
You'd think if you were trying to determine what BB might have done you might research it, and in doing so you might ask a Question like "What did people that know him well think he would have done" and then add that to the pile of information.

Outside of hitting on a generational QB for the Chiefs, BB’s approach to the draft was the best. Yea his recent picks were not good, but it needed time.
What has the teams who have taken the BPA ever won? It is nice seeing highlights of nice plays, see teams win some games etc, but if you don’t build from the trenches but rather focus on picking the Julio Jones, the Jeffesons when you can’t protect the QB, can stop the run, then you will get the wow plays and be like everyone else.
You say that and yet the Patriots only HOF oline was a guy who never won a superbowl. In fact HOF oline have th least amount of superbowl wins and the OC position only 20% in the HOF have a ring.

The QB and secondary have the biggest impact on winning championships

Judging by HOF credentials is incredibly problematic. They tend to ignore offensive line compared to the skill positions. Pay attention to how teams improve when their offensive lines generate push in the run game and create protection in the pass game.

I don't care about the press and Travis' GF.

Look at the contested catch rate and Hunter is much better than McMillan. Look at the 40 and 3cone, Hunter is much better than McMillan. The Pats should draft the Best Player Available, BPA, and Hunter is the BPA. Don't get confused or you will end up with N'Keal or Ja'Lynn. Don't get cute, draft the guy with the Biletnikoff award, best WR is college football in 2024, Travis Hunter.
That’s fine, you do you. I just continue to see more and more smoke about his personal life. Eventually that could work its way into the conversation and possibly become a distraction/circus.

We worried about that before so we drafted Tyquan Thornton instead of George Pickens. No distractions with Tyquan. How did that work out?

If you are a Hunter superfan I think it's more likely we would need the Patriots to win and for one of the Titans or Giants to also win. I think we surely pick him at #3 but if we finished #1 there is a possibility we trade down to like 4-8 or something for a haul of picks and miss him.

We could try trading down to #3 but im not positive It goes QB,QB with the first two picks.

Pickens has his warts, has been criticized in the past for lack of effort. He’s obviously better than Tybust but then again we’re comparing our brokeass WR scouting vs the best in the biz in Pittsburgh.

Its a fair point. However if they wind up at 4, I think he will be gone at 3

The same number of oline have been inducted as the secondary but the secondary has far more championships.

A guy like Joe Thomas who never played a snap in the postseason is in the HOF at LT.

Every position in football is important but having an elite oline has never translated to wins like having an elite secondary has.

Look at the legion of boom that the Seahawks had, vs the elite Oline the Cowboys had about a decade ago.

Rams do a nice job at WR drafting.

We have the Worse Practice squad players though masquerading as Starters.

I can’t believe Puka was 5th round pick. Pitt did the same thing with AB in the 6th. Incredible lottery ticket wins, someone kidnap the scouts from those teams ASAP
Seems a lot more like luck. If they knew they’d be the caliber of players they are/were, no way they’re waiting around til the 5th or 6th and risking someone else scooping them up. Still, they’re surely better than the Pats at it, but when it comes to WR we all assume that’s a given.

Oh yeah, there’s always an element of luck in the draft. But they must have seen something that made them take a flier

I think if Belichick was still here, there was a good chance he would have traded back. There was a lot of debate on this board and in the media on whether to trade back.

Belichick didn’t like the pick and his opinion of Maye was clear at the time the pick was made. I think Belichick would have made a hard run at Mayfield in free agency. By all accounts he wanted him the year he was drafted. He would have traded the pick on draft day.

Yep, Hunter will be gone by 3. And I’m having doubts about trading the 1 given that Minny will be trading a QB, and so will Atlanta. I would love to see them get the 1 Andrade it to double up first round picks next year, but more and more it’s looking like a pipe dream.

I wonder if the Kraft’s and/or Wolf tell Mayo that Maye must not play Sunday? The injury gives them the out.

Probably the same thing I saw in Nakua's scouting report. 'Somehow gets open'. They always discount that skill over speed and size.
