Wow!

He'd be off my board, full stop.

Drake Maye, Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels sat their bowl game last year. Were they off your board?

It stinks to high heaven and I really hate it but I’m at a loss of what colleges can do stop it.

To me it’s a cowardly thing to do to your teammates and coaches. Some of them are still being evaluated by scouts and it lessens the exposure .One great game by a fringe prospect could be all the difference. I get the injury concern and players like Willis McGahee, Jake Butt or Jaylen Smith but I still don’t agree with it.

Not a good reflection on the guy, sitting out the second half. Pretty much a slap in the face to your "team mates"

one thing to opt out of the bowl game, but how do you play the first have and then sit out the rest of the game and let your team lose?

We are all living in the past. Big time revenue college sports are now all about individualism and money. The "play for each other and our school pride" thing still exists in the majority of schools, because only a small fraction actually have a chance at being a top 10 team regularly. But the spotlight teams, and those that play in late December and into January, are in a different world altogether.

That's why we've seen a serious exodus of world class coaches from premier college basketball programs.

A reflection of the US economy, come to think of it.

Lucky him.

Yeah, not sure I quite understand that one

He got his record, and then protected his asset.....

It really stinks. Our only option is to stop watching/participating. I try to pretend it's still about sports and competition because I enjoy it, but it's getting harder and harder to do.

On the other hand, UConn's LT Chase Lundt who is considered a mid-rounder in the draft injured his knee yesterday in a meaningless bowl game. He beat out Ryan VanDeMark for that position last year, and VandeMark has ben playing well for the Bills this season. This hurts Lundt pretty badly.

This really isn't a new thing in college either since the bowl season really starts a whole month or more after the final game of the season for most teams, so players are just playing out the string now. Bowl season is funny season with a lot of upsets and results because the games don't count (I'm obviously excluding the college football playoff).

He’s a first rate prick from all reports. Had one really good season at Miami against a weak SOS…..we’ll see how good he will be in NFL…

It was Mario Cristobal's call - he was telling people all week Ward was only going to play the first half.
