Congrats to Marte Mapu.

The season hasn't gone as hoped, but he put up 7 tackles (3 solo) and an INT in a game where the pats held Josh Allen to 154 yards passing.

He's number 15 if you want to keep an eye on him.

Agree, Mapu played really good game.

He badly missed a tackle in the second half to go with the INT snafu.

But otherwise Mapu was around the ball.

He looks like an oddball out there.

Surprisingly good game for Mapu overall, compared to the rest of his season thus far.

I was always up on Mapu, and was pleased we drafted him. Versatile and hard hitter, I'm pleased he had a good game.

Each thread I've gone to so far has had this same type of trollish Billshit. It's early though.
Lots of folks complained about BB drafting him.

It’s a shame he made the bonehead play as he did have a very good game.

Other than that brain cramp after the interception, he was solid as fk.
Marte is a good player and is a hybrid... he's rangy, instinctive and can play multiple positions. Health has been what has held him back as a player. However he's a promising young talent that will have a big role in the defense next season and beyond.

He may be a good player. One or two highlights in two seasons.
I think the complaints over drafting him were that he offered a similar game as Dugger and Peppers when the Patriots need a coverage free safety. He's a hybrid LB/S who can play up in the box - as can Dugger and Peppers.

One of my negatives against last off season (and there are many), is that there were two young and talented true FS's in their mid-20's that could have helped this season and as cornerstones for the defense in years to come. Both lasted until the end of FA and both signed contracts that did not break the bank. Either one of those players would have removed a need that they still need to fill.

Wow, a Mapu appreciation thread?
He has shown flashes of good athleticism, and instincts. But his brain is not quite there.
I think he has promise, and seems like a good replacement for Dugger or Peppers - if they can coach up his mental awareness.

He’s the reason James Cook had the big TD run. Mapu won’t even make the roster next season.

If you've noticed teams have chosen to run away from Jennings he is our only impact run support player in the front.. so to your point it exposes the rest of the defense.. we have no sideline to sideline LBs..
