The quote is BOLD above is a Boston Sports Media fake talking point that some PatsFans swallowed as the truth. I am not the swallowing type of guy like 1960Pats who likes to swallow.

Why didn't we sign Xavier McKinney in FA? McKinney, now at the Packers, has 7 picks and 50 tackles as a FS (defensive player). If McKinney was at FS, Dugger and Peppers could play a hybrid SS/LB role as originally envisaged. Or look at Saquon Barkley signed by the Eagles (offensive player). He might be the NFL offensive MVP this year, but 1960Pats says there was no players to burn money on in 2024 FA. God save us from the BB haters and the Kraft lovers.
A few of us including myself highlighted some of the free agent Free Safeties available in March, because it seemed like that was a big gap on the roster. Instead they paid Dugger and didn’t really do much else besides a few below-average-at-best guys. Surprise - safety is still weakness.

Is it weird that I’m kind of excited to watch them get blown out tomorrow?

A blowout tomorrow will matter only if followed by two MORE blowouts to end the season. Then they hopefully can blow Mayo, Wolf, et al. out the door.

IMO if they get messed up badly tomorrow and then again 6 days later at home, I highly doubt the Krafts will wait around til the final game to see if Mayo can “pull one out” in his very last outing. At that point things should be pretty clear and the Krafts will probably already be talking to agents of pending HC candidates.

You could be right, but I fear Bob is looking for any and all reasons to keep Mayo. This could depend on his hand being forced and three solid thumpings should do that.

Caveat: I hate the way I feel about this. I've never rooted for Pats losses under any condition and swore I never would. But another year of Mayo could put the franchise's long-term future in doubt, especially if roster improvements elevate him to mediocrity. We can't afford that.

The remaining candidates, if you can believe the reports about Vrabel and McDaniel already going elsewhere.

Really need Denver's template..

Hopefully if they get blown out tomorrow, that is enough.

I’ve seen no evidence of that lol. I’ve only seen people misrepresent things

Hope so.

I remember a few weeks ago Mayo blamed some of their poor performance on having a really late bye. But then they just had one of their worst performances of the year coming off their bye, which totally sinks that argument. But I’d be willing to bet he fed that line to the Krafts, and so now they’re on to his BS a little bit. If he doesn’t get the ship turned around this week and it’s another embarrassment, that would hopefully just seal his fate. Pulling together some slightly more positive outings in the last 2 weeks versus teams who have most likely cemented their playoff spots and will not have so much to play for will not mean as much.

We know the Krafts are onto Mayo's BS based on reading JK's lips. He was pissed off early in the game.

The media retracted their previous takes this week. Bedard was especially vocal. That means the Krafts are sending out warning volleys.

Having said that, the most important thing is to improve the roster which means Wolf and Groh have to be fired 1st. 2nd, RK has to burn some cash. 3rd, Mayo and the coaching staff have to be gutted and replaced.

Well, turns out I'm going to the game! My first ever Patriots game. I know going in that it's likely to be a massacre, but I'm excited anyway! I can't bring my camera and big lens into the stadium without a press pass, unfortunately, so I'll have to type up a simple report without images afterward. I guess I'd look distracting in the stands with my 600mm trained on the field, haha. Can't wait!

Will you have a fire Mayo sign?

Nice, hope the Bills fans are cool to you. They’re usually a pretty fun bunch

Congratulations. Great to hear.

Media has been all over the place this week. Granted it is definitely a change from prior weeks when everyone’s stance was “Mayo is safe” but this week I’ve seen like 3 different stances from the same individuals. Mike Reiss was suddenly highly critical but then backed off. Guys like Curran and Callahan have seemingly had conflicting takes in the same week.

At least Bedard has been pretty consistent, and Russini “clarified” her report that he was totally safe from the prior weekend with a new one akin to “well he’s safe, for now, unless he has a bad season ending” which seems all but guaranteed. Schefter has said “he was safe going into the start of December” which means essentially the same thing. I guess we will see what the media takes are next week…

Exactly. We will see after Sunday, even though the decision to replace Wolf and the coaching staff should already have happened.

If I had to guess, they’ve already decided to move on and are just massaging the messaging over time in the media to make it look like they’re still good owners who are very deliberate and methodical; so they don’t get lumped in with the Teppers or Davises, etc. for moving on after only 1 year.

But that may just be me being optimistic.

Thanks. Let's hope.

I DO hope they have decided to move on, but I fear they haven’t yet.

I hope you are right.

This is a nexus moment for the future of the franchise. The wrong decision will do a lot of damage to the franchise.

Since he will take over some time in the not too distant future with a failing Robert, hopefully Jonathan can convince Robert to allow him to make the call.
