They have already sunk emphatically. Patriots front office is already trying to conduct damage control and defend their hopeless ability to identify WR talent.

It isn't even the end of their rookie season. They have time to turn around their careers.

Never thought I'd say this but I'd take him. He's better, even now, than anything we've got.

On second thought, no. Might put the tank at risk.
He actually isn't better.

9 recs on 18 tgts 55 yards 0TDs

At this point I don't think you can even say he is better than Polk.

Devil’s advocate…name ONE Pats receiver who showed nothing as a rookie and then became something. Edelman doesn’t count because he had shown elite return ability.

I think this team, for some reason, just can’t develop WR’s.

Never has one play helped gain somebody so much of a career.

He hasn’t had a great season In 8 years

Can I name Browns WRs instead? What does Aaron Dobson or Chad Jackson or Brandon Tate have to do with the Patriots of today? Different people drafting and different people developing the picks.

We do not have history on the current Patriots and how they draft and develop players. We have a few years of draft history, but that is not apples to apples since there is a different person setting the agenda and requirements for players. We have no history on the coaching staff and how they develop players beyond this year.

I wish people would stop looking at the history of the Patriots drafting WRs and think most of it is relevant to today.

He's toast.

You know... I was thinking this team could use another wr4.

“ Different people drafting and different people developing the picks.”

Is it really though?

Groh and Wolfe were both here as were the same scouts.

And WR coach of THIS YEAR hasn’t developed ANYONE all season.

To the point where I suspect he’s replaced.

Watch KC claim him. They’ve claimed everyone else !!!

Matt Groh was a scout for many years (not sure he ever scouted WRs in those positions). He didn't get a management position with decision making capabilities until 2021.

Elliot Wolf came to the Patriots in 2020 as a consultant and didn't become director of scouting until 2022.

Tyler Hughes, the WR position coach, has three years of NFL experience. He spent 2020-2022 as an offensive assistant with the Patriots. He left the team in 2023 to go to be an analyst in college. And this is his first year as a position coach.

None of these people were in positions to make the decision to draft guys like Aaron Dobson or Brandon Tate nor develop them.

Again, any failings of the past has nothing to do with this group. If Polk and Baker do not turn around their careers, it isn't because the Pats drafted and failed to develop guys like Dobson and Tate.
