The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

I was listening to college sports station SIRIUS today. The hosts had a guest on, a reporter that coves college football. He had a point that if UNC really wanted Bill then they should’ve hired him already because today was the first day that the transfer portal opened, so each day without a head coach the further behind you are, normally when you haven’t hired a coach by now that means the certain coach is still coaching games.

With Daboll all but gone from NYG, that's the place I see Bill ending his career.

I happen to be in Raleigh the end of last week and it was big news there. At first I sort of rolled my eyes at the idea but upon further reflection there's points to be made for him taking a college job.

1. He is sick of the modern athlete and wants athletes who when asked to jump don't ask why, they ask how high.
2. Bring in Steven with the idea he's the successor.
3. It's possible Kraft is black balling him and he won't get NFL offers.
4. Only three coaches have won at both levels: Jimmy Johnson, Barry Switzer and Pete Carrol. So even if he doesn't break Shula's record maye he joins this list.
5. More time to hang and bang with the cheerleader.
6. Is made the head coach of the lacrosse team too.

The last two are obviously jokes before the literal police start quoting and saying what a tool I am.

1. College won't be any better
2. No one is denying that he also requires Jordon to be head cheerleader coach
3. It's possible his sub 500 record without TB12 is black balling him. Owners have eyes.
4. No way BB wins the National Championship at UNC. 0.00% chance of that occurring.

Yup. There's a reason why no 70+ year old coach has ever won anything in the NFL. Bill wouldn't change that if he were to find a job again.

Highly unlikely he'll coach again in the NFL.
Marv Levy was 71 I believe in 1996, 10-6 record.

True but they were one and done on wild card weekend. Also helped to have a ton of experience and leadership on that team from the Super Bowl years. Fun fact: AVP was their backup QB...

I know Romeo Crennel was the oldest, I can't remember how he did at that age.

I'm a believer the dynasty was 75% Brady, 20% Bill and 5% Robert....and I'm being kind to Robert. But that said he'll attract a lot of talent at least initially because he'll flash the rings and say to the recruits I can get you NFL ready and they will all see the dollar signs. You give Bill a top roster and I still think he can win.

Fixed it for you.

I think there's no shot he ends up on the college ranks. Zero. His BFF Nick Saban no doubt has filled his head with all that's wrong with the current culture in college and how the NIL deals have made guys like Belichick and Saban, essentially, obsolete. Perhaps he'll get a certain type of player that wants what he preaches, but I think he's going to find there's far more programs out there that will attract a vast majority of players who and just throwing money at them and promising higher Influencer Status and **** like that.

TLDR: Kids are more apt to sign with Coach Prime and all his nonsense than Bill and his hardnosed ways.

Next years recruiting class would have been in elementary school last time Bill won. He can flash as many rings as he wants but if he doesn't flash NIL money, the kids won't give a ****..

Bill won't change the fact UNC isn't a football powerhouse. Their 2025 recruiting class is 82nd according to Rivals. Bill won't tip the scales much. And scheme and the little things won't make a difference when they play Clemson.

The oldest coach to win a SB was 68 years old.

Sounds like (nearly) a done deal. Good luck coach.

That’s why he is reportedly demanding certain requirements of the university and its boosters. He has cache, and he will bring name recognition to the university. He also wants them to refocus on football in a way that sets him up for success.

that cache will bring in NIL money from alumni & boosters

Bill's strong cachet with UNC boosters. But UNC has to "think about it" Too funny the hero worship.

They'll be in the playoffs next year.

I've never had a college team to root for.

And as much as I want to see him shut everyone up in the NFL I also don't want to lose to him or see his legacy hurt and this would be a quite way to keep coaching but won't likely negatively effect his legacy and obviously however unlikely at a school like UNC a college title would be crazy.

If 400 page document is true then I’m guessing him and his buddy Nick Sabin have had several Zoom calls.

Gotta say this has my interest piqued a lot more than BB going to a new NFL team. Couldn’t care less how he does on a different NFL team but I will be following him at UNC now.

No reputable confirmation of BB "accepting a deal" in the 6 hours since that tweet

seems Bogus or at best a guess to jump the gun and claim credit, with luck
