Wolf has made worse GM decisions than post Brady BB

Bourne was coming back from an ACL, so anyone with a brain knew he wouldn't be normal.
I like POP, but he still has learning to do.
What good are "Outside receivers" if they can't get on the field because they are too stupid, or can't catch the ball when it's thrown to him?

Good players can line up anywhere and be effective.

I like McConkey, but McConkey is a slot. They have too many needs to be duplicating positions. I wanted Jackson Powers-Johnson with that pick, but I understand the Polk pick, and I believe he’s a much better player than he has shown this season.

And he made another one today.

For anyone interested there’s really good “ Fix Your Franchise” podcast from NFL Stock Exchange. An hour discussion of what the Patriots can do to take the next step for this franchise.

Belichick was clearly against the pick on MaCafee’s show as the pick took place. And I put the video of him going against it on here a couple of weeks ago.
Wrong

I watched it yesterday thought it was pretty good. I agreed with Tevor getting at least 2 starting OL in FA and getting Higgins, but do not like pursuing Deebo. I was against Higgins but have changed my mind on him. I think that the Pats are going to have to overpay.I linked it below just in case anyone is interested.

I think both Bourne and Douglas are capable slot receivers if you have a good QB. What they need are receivers that are threats outside the hashes and down the field. If people want receivers other than Polk that’s fine, but using their second for a third slot receiver makes no sense at all.
Bourne is too slow for the Slot...Pop have the skills of a Slot but he's been pedestrian. Not running the proper route or getting the correct dept: he's been frustrating this year.

Ladd is a primary slot but can also play outside. I too think Polk should be better than what he’s shown but still major mistake taking him over the much better wr.

Thanks for the link. I remain hopeful that C Strange or J Andrews can help next year. Moving from #4 to #6, but #8 might be better, is a solid move. Drafting Campbell at #6 and moving him to LG is Nuts. I do like DL and CB early in the draft. Higgins and a RT in FA would be great. They were making stuff up, not very serious this far in advance, but still a fun listen.

Maye is the future of this franchise and they need to protect him and give him weapons.
Walker Little
Cam Robinson
Garrett Bolles
Ronnie Stanley
Alaric Jackson

Above is a list of good starting LT's in FA. Between FA and the draft I think we need to bring in at least 4 new OL. I realize that we have taken a lot of them over the last couple years, but until its fixed I think its the way to go. I know OL is not the sexy position but it is vital to the pass and run game.

Bolles is the tackle I want on that list. I think Denver is going to try hard to re-sign him but NE should go hard after him. And I agree that fixing the Ol is the priority for the offseason. But if they can sign Bolles then it gives them the freedom to go best player with their first pick, and that opens up the possibility of going for Mason Graham or Will Johnson with their first pick( Hunter will likely be gone). If they went with Graham they would then have Barmore, White, and Graham as the core of their DL going forward, and one of the best young lines in football. It’s a similar deal with Johnson. If they paired him with Gonzalez, and then went after Javon Holland in free agency they would have the best young secondary in football, although my preference here would be Graham, because I think great DL are harder to come by. But you can only make these moves if you have left tackle solved. And the way it’s shaping up right now it appears that there will be significant talent on the OL available in the late first round/early second round E. g…Josh Simmons and Texas RT Cameron Williams.

For anyone interested in early mocks and a more extensive list of prospects Tankathon did a 3 round mock that gives a sense of how the early rounds of the draft could shake out.

I’m ok with the Pats selections there, except maybe for the RB at 83.

I’m OK with the Campbell pick as well, but if they can fix LT with Bolles it allows them to go best player with their first pick, and then go OT with their second. Unlike last year there isn’t a lock LT in this draft, so the value is much better late first early second for that position. Simmons might be the best tackle prospect in the draft, but he’s going to take some time to recover from his injury.

Did Belichick tell you that? Lol
Belichick said as much in the evaluation after the selection. My guess is a trade back and the selection of J.J. McCarthy which, given how he played in preseason, wasn't horrible, but the injury pushes his timeline back so we don't yet know how big of a talent gap there would have been there. Based on what we've seen so far, Maye was the better pick, but I highly doubt Belichick would have signed off on him. Again, that's based on his evaluation on the broadcast that night. His words, not mine.

Omg he didn’t say that at all. He evaluated tape as a coach and talked about the development he needed.

“he can make all the throws” isn’t “I wouldn’t draft him”

I would say his evaluation was not glowing. If you came away thinking Maye was his first choice worthy of the #3 overall pick, you and I absolutely view it differently.

This was not even close to an endorsement.

In the past he's also said Zach Wilson "can make all the throws". I'm sure he wouldn't have drafted him either if he had a chance and rightfully so.

It was never Bill's MO to pick a QB early that needs some development so why would he start now? He will go with the more polished guy all the time, which McCarthy was. Also see Jones, Mac

His evaluation of any player on take is not glowing. At the beginning he pointed out negatives about each qb.
Thats his job, to analyze where they are at and what development they need.

He wasn’t there to “endorse” he was there to evaluate college players, which mostly includes what they need to improve on at the next level.
Show me the tape on the draft picks he “endorsed” and said nothing about their developmental issues.

Mac Jones was who fell to him. It was his only choice. If he had a higher pick he would have taken a different Qb.
