He ain't going anywhere and I think you know it. It's a shame, you can change a staff after year one with a rookie QB, you can't do it year 2 imo. I would try to keep TC or AVP with Maye at all costs though.

It's been a major hole for quite some time which was why Bill took Gonzalez in 2023. Posters don't seem to remember the 2022 season where they were getting abused by WR's weekly.

Marcus Jones is not an NFL CB. He needs to stick to kickoff and punt returns.

Jonathon Jones has gotten exposed since his moved up the totem poll by default since the departures of Gilmore, Jackson and Jason McCourty.

"Exposed" is a little overstated. He's done well in the right system and against the right matchups. He's like Jonnu Smith - get him with the right coaching and system and he's a solid contributor - middle of the roster type. He's also older now and probably declining.

You're correct with the aspect of he's assumed a role he's not the right level of player for - that's spot on. If he was still the third CB, or in double teams versus better WRs, (and the line could generate ANY pressure at all) he'd probably still be a contributor.

I don't think they'll fire him. They should. Him and Covington both. The defense was the strength of this team last year. Now it's just a suckfest, and I really think Kraft isn't going to pull the plug on his chosen one.

I dismissed the time under BB because I'm less aware for what he was responsible (but that's because I haven't tried to learn, it could be very clear to most). Your point is probably stronger than mine.

I won't claim to know the details, and I don't want to pose as more knowledgeable than I am. I would add to my side of the ledger, though, that aside from Drake (who was a no-brainer), his entire first draft looks like a dismal bust. Ditto for his other acquisitions. I just think he sucks at his job (and I hate that damned self-satisified smirk the little punk puts on his mug).

I don't want to overreact just yet but an alarming picture is starting to emerge with Maye and his nack for poor decision making and plays when trying to come back.

This needs to get addressed ASAP.

Those “poor decisions” are a result of lack of confidence in extremely untalented, intellectually maladroit, slow, and short WR corps.

I wonder what needs to be improved first, the Oline or explosive weapons ? Im wondering if they get a decent line, and Maye actually has time, would he be able to elevate the weapons he has now ? Or would improved explosive weapons help Maye go to the next level.

You look at the QBs who came into this league and became good QBs, the teams wound up getting good weapons or already had good weapons for their young stud QBs. Mahomes already had Kelce & Hill, Allen, they brought in Diggs & Beasley. Tua, they brought in Hill and drafted Waddle, Herbert, they had Allen and Williams. There aren’t any young QBs that become better without weapons.

I think the answer is obviously both, but I think the explosive offense weapons are a bigger need.
