Who as a Pats fan can like Miami?
I do not like them since '80...
Well, they were kinda fun starting out, when they had Flipper in a tank in the end zone.
Shula came along and built a powerhouse, and then when Coach Fairbanks showed up it was LOTS of fun to kick their asses up here in Foxborough, which we usually did. But we kept finding ways to lose in the Orange Bowl (Pats did win once, but that game was played in Tampa or somewhere).
In '80, you just heard John Lennon was murdered, so it just felt inevitable that Baumhower was going to block Smith's kick.
This was not a night for celebrating.
Five years later, the Pats were on a mission, spending the week at Coral Gables, I believe. Couldn't depend on Eason to get it done on Monday night.
All Tony had to do in the AFCCG was not screw it up. Irving Fryar's wife felt the need to stab her husband on gameday eve (shades of Bill Russell, if you know you know); Roland James felt horrible about fumbling a couple of punts, but it didn't matter and he hugged Irving afterwards in the locker room.
The Curse was finally broken.
