They are probably doing it for his benefit. Or he asked to be released. It's embarrassing to be benched as a top pick. Relegated to backup of backup.

Would provide a veteran presence to Maye though as backup.

D Watson will be next with Cleveland: some Teams are going to have eat some serious $$$$$$.

Ouch! I can live with drafting a bust and losing a few years from it. But you keep him through the duration of the 4 year rookie contract, re-sign him to a monster deal - and have to cut him 2 years later. I'm too lazy to look it up but I think I remember someone saying his contract had an out, so they might be okay financially… that's still alot of time to waste on a bad qb.

Man, that is a giant pill to swallow. $47M dead cap and gain like $750,000 in space this year, then another $22M in dead cap in 2025. So that's like almost $70M in dead cap and they still have no QB lol.

Not really sure why they felt they had to release him NOW though. What opportunities are out there for him in the last third of this season...?

Wow, surprised that they did this now. A lot of teams will be in the market for a QB this off season .

Not so fast Ross... 4 First Rounders and Malik Nabers for Drake Maye...who's with me??

I think QB money should be separate from the rest of the cap. A failed contract like this must cost other players on the team money and/or roster spots.

It’s like a bandaid, you need to rip it off.

Nah, be good at team building.

QB is just another position, the most important one… but just another position.
