DRAFT 2025 Patriots Draft Prospects

There were many posters who wanted them to trade down, and many others who wanted Harrison or Alt with the pick, I know, I was right in the middle of those arguments. And while most are rooting for Maye the people who didn’t want him will be the first to jump ship at the first signs of adversity.
There are hundreds of posters and you had a few arguments. And if someone thinks a LT or a trade down for multiple picks are preferred to drafting a QB, that is not anti-Maye, that is a philosophy difference. Those same people may completely support the Maye pick if the Pats chose to stay at 3 and draft a QB. Sure there were a few, but not many.
I don’t see any problem with people discussing the picks from the draft, I see a big problem with declaring them busts 8 games into their careers, and i do believe that the people doing so are full of ****, and I believe they would have gotten rid of Belichick and Brady their first season if that’s their mindset. Instant returns or you suck.
Again a few posters call the rookie players busts, but the same posters do that after all the drafts.

I think Maye and Pettus look great, and the balance of the 2024 draft look weak. The 2024 draft could be bad if the initial indications reflect the long term performance. It is much better to see a player who keeps getting better, even if the growth is slow. It is hard to see incremental improvement in the 2024 R2 to R7 draft picks.

Its really going to depend on how FA goes which we really need to make some noise this year. Hoping we make moves for LT, wr, cb, edge, dl (possibly guard if strange is still a question mark).

But from where we are likely picking (5ish) im liking any of:

Wr - tet mcmillan ( assuming hunter will be gone unless we lose the rest, but if hunter is there amazing)

DL - mason graham. Hearing hes a pretty special talent. If we improve wr and OL enough in fa i would be okay going defense here given the potential impact.

Edge - carter/pearce/williams. See above, Huge need.

Iffy on Ot - williams/banks. Would really prefer a fa over these guys , most reviews i read dont have either on joe alt’s level and i think thats where you need to be if you are selecting ot top 5, otherwise they are far too hit or miss for such a premium pick. This one will depend alot on how well they are graded closer to the draft.

Gonna be a big jaguars fan down the stretch. Theyre the only team potentially picking ahead of us that you know for sure isn’t going qb.

Here is my sleeper wr wish. In 2023 I went to several JMU games and they had two really good receivers, Reggie Brown who is now in the NFL on the Chiefs and Elijah Sarratt. Brown had 1054 receiving yards and Sarratt had almost 1200, its insane they both broke 1000. Sarratt to me is the better receiver. He is 6'2, 209 runs very smooth routes and catch anything around him and has decent speed. The kid is a baller from what I saw. He got pulled away from JMU when coach Cignetti left for Indiana. He is only a junior but could declare this year. If he comes out and is available in the middle rounds its a no brainer to me.

Here is a recent game:

Tetairo McMillan is a 6’5 elite WR1.
I’m sure that he will go top 10 and his size and catch radius are absurd, but he isn’t even the consensus WR1 in the draft at this point and if he had been available in last year‘s draft, he would’ve been no higher than WR3 and maybe even WR4. I would be OK with him in the 5 to 10 range (preferably closer to 10), but he’s not a top 5 pick in the draft with a strong WR class. I’ll be interested to see how he tests at the combine in terms of change of direction and explosiveness, because separating at the college level and in the NFL is an apples to oranges comparison, as we painfully experienced with Harry.

Harry doesn't have McMillan's speed...completely different players. I'm completely sold on Tetairoa McMillan.

Not a fan of McMillan, I think he's overrated and has some high bust potential. I'd rather sign Tee Higgins for that role. We have tons of cap to spend so we've got to land some premium players in FA, and there may not be many (or any) better young options than Higgins. I think Higgins' injury concerns are overblown. Only missed two games his first 3 seasons and he likely would've played through some of these recent injuries if he had a long term deal in place.

Just take BPA, we just need a superstar at any premium position. My top guys in order would be

Travis Hunter - Dude is just a baller, he would be one of your best players on either side of the ball. He's the superstar version of Marcus Jones. We'd have the best CB group in the league with Gonzo, Hunter, and Marcus. And he could double as our WR2 on 3rd downs or crucial drives.

Mason Graham - This guy is a monster, him and Barmore would make the best interior in the league and cause problems for any OL. With White and a FA edge on the outside the front could be very scary.

Will Johnson - Not our most important need but we definitely do need a CB2 and it would be hard to pass up on the talent. Our CB room would be reminiscent of 2018 with Gilmore, Jackson, and Jon Jones.

After those guys I'd look to take the top edge or maybe tackle. I like Scourton at edge personally. I've seen lots of conflicting opinions on the tackles, not sure I'd feel confident taking any of them at the top of the draft right now. Ersery does intrigue me though probably not in the top 10.

That's what people said about Treylon Burks and Quentin Johnston. Didn't like those guys and I don't like McMillan either, personally way too high of bust potential for me.

We could have Both Tee Higgins and Tet McMillan.

Quentin Johnson is having a good year solid numbers... regarding Burks Injuries and questionable QB Play at Tennessee. I would take a flier on Burks if Tennessee decides to move on he had decent Rookie year.

Johnston definitely isn't Harry level bad but if that's all we get out of our top 10 pick we're gonna be in trouble. Maybe McMillan is better but I don't see it. Also think his skill set would be a little redundant if we signed Higgins. If you're looking to draft that type of WR, I'd feel better about Tre Harris at the top of the 2nd, I think he has a lot of skill.

I watched his game tape and after 3 clips I saw clear separation from defenders …way beyond the stratospheres of what Harry produced. Harry was glued to defenders in his college tape like white on rice. Oh and Tet is a good 3-4” taller than Harry and his 40/3cone times come in considerably faster. I won’t even get into Tet’s incredible hands, YAC ability which make Harry look like a Pee-Wee

I mean Tet looks so much better on his game tape than Harry the comparison is actually laughable

Is this another project WR not from the SEC? We are so bad at these kind of picks we should just stick to Mel Kipers draft board when it comes to WRs

Or mine for that matter.

He was in the Sun Belt in 2023 and this year with Indiana in the Big 10. Kid is not elite but solid and I think he is going to be a good NFL player, a great pick up in the middle rounds. I agree Mel Kiper is a WR guru

What's your big negative on T-Mac?
I agree somewhat with Higgins but the big concern is he had the hamstring/quad in 2023 (and to a lesser degree in 2020 AND 2022), spent all off-season on a program to correct that even saying it is behind him because of all the work he did and now has missed time with hamstring and quad. A bit concerning.

That year Ray: the WR I wanted was A.J. Brown: who had one of the best tapes in the entire Draft. Brown was a Beast in the Slot who could also play Outside Colossal miss by us there embarrassing. To think we had another pick to get it right and took the Two Worse players Harry and the Harry of CB's Slow-Quan Williams.

Just doesn't pass the eye test. I don't see enough skill or quickness to his game. To me he just seems like a guy who is just bigger and faster than everyone in college so he beats up on the college competition but when he gets to the NFL I think he'll have a hard time. He also didn't do much against Colorado/Travis Hunter this year either. Not saying he'll be horrible but maybe something like a Quentin Johnston or Drake London at best in my opinion and to me that isn't worth the pick.
