Kraft allegedly seeking outside QB guru.

I think BoB did a poor job last season and there's a good reason why he's not here anymore.

That too.

The coaching was just dysfunctional though and that can't be good for any player. Klemm publicly fighting with a staffer and then going AWOL. BoB not being able to bring his own staff along. BB stopped talking to Jones completely and checked out probably knowing this was the end of the line in NE.
BoB isn't here because they were moving in a different direction. Change encompasses everything at some point. I have never been a fan of Bill O'Brien. Didn't like him the first go round, didn't in the second. But there is no denying his ability to run a pro-level offense. I could give two craps about him "not being able to bring his own guys in". He had options, could have stayed in Alabama. Most likely, if he did stay, he could have taken that program over. But he left. He chose to come here knowing he wasn't going to be able to "bring his own guys". That's a non-starter in my book.

Coaching, like relationships, are two way streets. BB and the staff weren't on their A game at the end, there is no denying it. But Mac never grew into a leadership role. Never grew to the point where he could impress his version of the offense on the game plan. Mac never learned from any of his mistakes. You always say "Mac Jones sucks" or some variant, with the sarcasm clearer than a cloudless day. Doing the same thing over and over? At some point it transitions - and its no longer the coaching. Its the players unwillingness to accept coaching. That's why Mac Jones does suck.

You think BB wanted to start Zappe? Not in a million years. Clearly he is an inferior player compared to Mac Jones. But at some point, when you've said the same thing over and over, and its not sinking in, what choice do you have but to move on?

It really isn't rocket science. Plenty of successful HCs have talked to the media respectfully. Apparently Bill never could.
How exactly is it a distraction for Kraft to be looking for help for his QB?
Maybe my wording was incorrect however I do think it could be a distraction as it sends a message to the coaching staff that he does not have the faith in them to do the job satisfactory . It is something that could have been sought out after the season was over, not mid season!!

Mac Jones is on his 4th QB coach and 4th OC and he looks worse than ever. He was bad for the last 3rd of his rookie yr, he was horrendous his second year, looked worse his 3rd year, and now he looks worse than he ever has before.

If you have Tom Brady, McDaniels works because Brady is the true leader of the offense, compensating for McDaniels' alleged tendency to be an ******* that guys don't want to play hard for. We don't have Tom Brady. Pass.
Matt Cassel did well under McDaniels.

McDaniels somehow coached a guy named Cam Newton, whose shoulder was so terribly shot he looked like Al Oerter out there, to somehow win several games.

McDaniels would be a terrible fit because he’d try the Bill method of showing lowlights of a player and tearing him down. He didn’t pull that **** with Tom as Tom “bullied” him according to Derek Carr.

He tried it with Jay Cutler, who immediately asked for a trade.

Raiders players didn’t like him.

Mayo asked BOB to stay as OC, so he was not seen as the problem. If there was any doubt about NE coaches being the issue, Mac looked the same after getting 'better' coaching in Jax.

Yep, but for how long? McDaniels isn't a different person. He is what he is. An *******. No one wants to work with assholes. We can do better.

Kraft has apparently been seeking advice on how best to handle a young qb outside of the organization. How does everyone feel about this? All week I’ve heard from multiple sources about how good of a job AVP is doing developing Maye. What reason would Kraft have to meddle and to let it leak no less? Is Kraft planning on pulling the plug on the AVP, McCartney, McAdoo experiment at the end of the season? Is Kraft not satisfied with Drakes development? Is Kraft hearing from sources within the organization that Maye isn’t receiving good coaching? I want to say his heart is in the right place and he’s just wanting to do what’s best by the kid but it all feels dirty to me.
you are reporting a rumor as if it were fact. AND then complain about the actions as IF they were factual. Thanks for adding NOTHING to today's conversation.

Bill should've started Zappy vs da Bears on MNF, that's for dam sure... Instead, he ****ed it all up. Beginning of the end for the ol' ball coach here.

Devils advocate no one has ever said a bad word about McDaniels the coordinator, just the head coach.

People often ignore this. No player complained about Josh in 2008, 2020 or 2021 w/o Brady. In fact he made it work as best he could.

It’s not being reported as a rumor, its being reported as fact. Did you read any of the article? And yeah buddy, thats what we do here. We talk about anything involving our favorite sports team. Take away all of the reports that were “rumors” and you’d have a pretty dull site. Man, you’ve gotten grumpy as hell in your old age. Lighten up ken.

The Detroit OC and McDaniels are improvements on what's current, but I want Brian Daboll who will likely be fired at the end of the season.

It's perfect in so many ways.

Pats have developed QBs quite well. Brady, Cassell, JG, Hoyer, and Brissett all started in the NFL. Even Stidham. Pretty good for a list of mostly later draft picks over 20 years.

Hey now don't forget "Mr Glass" JimmyG! Didn't do so hot on Mallet...
