If matters continue more or less as they are, should the Krafts fire Mayo at season's end?

You guys hoping we get a new HC next year are going to be disappointed, Mayo's not going anywhere, it's a rebuild whether some want to admit it or not and Mayo's learning on the job. If next year's draft sucks, Wolf may be gone.
I know Mayo won’t get fired after one year but he should. This team is going nowhere with him. Kraft’s pride will be the reason this team will be stucked in the mud for multiple years with a HC that has no idea what he is doing

come on man, not one thing?

He can strut like a pimp on the sidelines. Scowl like a son of a ***** too.

so there ya go, two things he has done well.
Joking aside, cutting the cord with Brissett and inserting Maye was his best decision so far.

Although I didn't like it, not paying Judon and trading him ended up being a good call. He was one of the only guys I liked watching on the Pats, but Judon has been pretty bad this year.

this decision was made because of the external pressure on the team. Not sure if i fully credit him for that. In fact, i respected the fact that he did not bow to the mounting pressure, until he did.

Good move, no doubt.

You're probably right. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors.

Is there a better guy out there to coach the team?

That’s the definitive answer to the puzzle.

The Jupiter police might...

lol, sorry, couldn't resist...

I feel like the Judon decision was Wolf’s and not Mayo. I don’t think Mayo even had a seat at the discussion of who got an extension and who didn’t.

So what happens if they win 10-11 games next year? Not saying I think they do just wondering what the climate would be in here if he did.

im not so sure about that Mike... After what happened during camp I can see Mayo saying get rid of him. That was pretty disrespectful, leading to the point of no return. As much as he is a "players coach", anyone who learned under BB should know that **** won't fly.

Put that plate of crow right in front of me. I will gladly mea culpa and eat the whole damn thing on a live stream.

This is a team that had 4 wins with Bill Belichick. Mayo's going to get more than a year. Nobody in the NFL thinks this team is talented enough to give any coach a fighting chance. Also I know everybody is high on Maye, but there's no great coach that is going to look at New England, look at the talent we have (remember we'd have to hire a coach prior to the draft and free agency), look at us firing Bill Belichick one year and then giving his successor a single year and then think that the Patriots are worth the gamble. You'll be stuck with someone who is unproven and is willing to take a risk to get his shot. Which is essentially what Mayo is and you will have to accept the same growing pains only he will be more of an unknown.

It's probably overall better to just let Mayo develop and see if he comes into his own and if he can succeed with more talent. There's very likely going to be openings in places like Dallas this cycle that will be far more attractive. If the idea is to dump Mayo to get someone proven, that's going to be doubtful.

Then Mayo is still here. QB's make or break coaches. If they win that many games, then that means Maye is the real deal.

Eh, I feel like Wolf and Mayo discussed it. Wolf doesn't have the clout to make decisions without "collaboration". Telling Mayo that they are trading Judon without a head's up, probably isn't a good idea.

I could absolutely be wrong, but I just don’t think Mayo has that kind of authority over personnel.

You are right. Maybe I mis-read the op. @TheRainMaker made the point succinctly - collaborative effort...
Yes. But don’t you think that if Wolf went to Mayo and said that he had to make it work with Judon, Mayo would have?

no. the day he hit the pads in civvies just to hang around was a bridge burner imo.
