Helmet to helmet has nothing to do with the QB sliding. It's a safety issue that the refs are supposed to call anywhere on the field with any player, not just a QB.
It's tough. To me, It's a timing thing. If Maye didn't slow down, then the helmet would be behind his back as part of a wrap around tackle. It could've gone either way for me.

JB doing okay in relief is what a vet backup is supposed to do. (and what JB has always been best at)
But, Mayo's comments made me think it's almost certain Maye is back next week.
If it was a coaches decision and not the independent neurological guy - then we should be good.
And if our WR's spend more time working the jugs machine than their mouths this week, we could see improvement and 3-6
I’m optimistic that he will be back next week also, but we’ll see. Definitely need to get these guys working on catching. You’d think for how much they talk, they’d be able to perform their main responsibility.

Even our fans abuse these guys. I've heard criticism of Gonzo, Marcus Jones, Keion White. Gonzo and Keion made a bunch of plays today. Even Marcus was not that bad. They held the Jets in check.

The two PIs are Marcus were bogus, as was the one on Gonzo. The PI on Ellis looked legit except for the fact that Hall had already run out of bounds before Ellis made contact.
You can add Mapu to your list. Mayo purposefully complimented Mapu, without being asked, for directing the defense (he wore the green dot with Bentley out).

No idea why the WR's were so bad today.
JB did what he does best, come in as a backup and play mediocre enough to win.
The QBs don't throw "catchable" balls. /s

Update on Maye?
It was said by Mayo that he was in the standard protocol, but that he wanted to go back into the game. It's also been reported (speculated), that he might be able to start against the Titans. Personally, I would play it extra safe and have him miss that game.

Since I have not heard why Maye left/was pulled, I am going to assume it was injury-related something something. That being said, if we can get the same product the rest of the season that was Jackoffy Frisket, we could actually be watchable. Just hoping for the best if it was an injury and if not, hoping for a visit to Mayo from upper management.
He's in the standard concussion protocol. Mayo said that he wanted to go back in. It's been said that he might be able to play against the Titans. I would play it extra safe and sit him for that game.

Happy to win. Polk's drop issues have spread to the entire team lol. I like Marcus Jones but today was rough for him.

Biggest thing was decent pass protection minus that embarrassing play where two guys couldn't hold back one guy on I believe was a 3 man rush early in the game.
They need a true #2 CB opposite Gonzo. Marcus Jones is more of a slot CB.

Considering the refs didn't call at least 2 DPI and the Illegal Hit to the head, the Jetes fans can go F**K themselves.
That should have been a penalty regarding the hit to Maye's head. They said the tackle was clean, but that usually always gets a flag. The Ref's sucked extra loud in this game, especially with the hit to Maye.

@Rob0729 made a good point as josh Allen went through the same thing and he didn't go into protocol however Drake did. Hmmm..
Personally, even though Maye said he wanted to back into the game, they said the protocol prohibited it. He might be able to play next week against TN, but I would sit him for that game just to be on the safe side, and TN isn't good. So, they have a chance even with Brissett.

But, but, but - there was no hit to the head per the refs.
The Ref's got that call totally wrong! They usually always call a hit to the head on a QB, especially considering he was sliding down. He wasn't trying to "Josh Allen" and hurdle over a defender.

I think it was incidental. If you want to see a flag thrown in every scenario like that might as well just turn the league into flag football.

Jones had good coverage and his hands on the ball in every catch he gave up. Kudos to the Jets WR. They make contested catches. Right now our team does not.

By definition that is correct but also another sign that we have gone overboard. The fact they are so hit or miss on this stuff, means it isn't the big deal everyone thinks it is.
I'm 71 years old and hate to see the many football players I followed when I was younger succumb to CTE. I appreciate the new awareness that "getting your bell rung" is not healthy, particularly when it happens over and over.

Compared to when I started watching in the 70's, it has become more like Flag Football than I remember. Some of the things that they've changed are common sense, but they've either over done it regarding some things, and not made improvements in areas that they could. It is what it is.
