Bedard: There was second guessing about Mayo over summer and him getting a second year isn't guaranteed

I figure they'll can him on the bye week. They should be 1-13 by then,

Kraft is looking for some excuse to keep this going. Even 2-3 more wins just to give him one more shot.

But Mayo will be making it very difficult if they go 1-16 or 2-15.

Agree. I also saw Currans podcast where he mentioned similar sentiments. I think my guy Mayo's gone at the end of the season. It's just to much dysfunction and I think it's probably going to end as seasons end.
If it keeps going like this, he will be gone before the season ends. They can’t afford to let the culture continue to degrade like this.

I agree, but once Kraft separated them, it was bound to go wrong. I can imagine the decision before Kraft is “do either of these guys have a vision for this team?” Wolf does. Whether Kraft is still buying into it is another question. But does Mayo even have a vision for what this team can become or how to get there? I don’t get that sense about him.
This is an important distinction... Mayo or what ever head coach is in place absolutely needs to have a vision of what he wants this team to be... Then he needs to implement it... He cannot delegate everything to the coordinators... The HC needs to be involved in every facet of the game... He needs to understand what needs to be done... just can't say "this guy runs this, that guy runs that"... The HC runs everything, and everything should go through him... Once he does that, then he can work in conjunction with Wolf to find his "guys"... It's not going to work if there are three voices saying different things... Then it becomes patchwork...

The Pats laid the foundation this year with Maye. He's good. Could be really good. Now they have to build up... And that starts with the coaches. One voice. One direction. I don't care if it takes three years to get there, as long as we see progress. Right now, we are just spinning our wheels...

We need a disciplinarian or someone who is extremely methodical and organizational. Not someone who believes in freedom of speech, liberty and total immunity to do what one pleases. It could work in a small creative workspace but not NFL where sum of parts need to get in which requires buy in which can only come from structure and organization and that requires respect and total buy In . If the coach cannot achieve that, he failed in his primary purpose. Right now that looks the case with Mayo.

Agree. I really think it's becoming far worse each week. The off field things are obviously not mayos fault, however the product on the field aside from Drake is horrendous. I say bring in Flores as HC ?

Bedard kinda creeps me out or something, but in this case I think he might be right. I kinda hope he's right, truth be told. I think it fair to give Mayo the rest of the season, but in my mind his incompetence is as obvious as it is obviously irreparable.

Boy George: when trans was fun. When I was a high school teacher, I used to play either "Karma Chameleon" or "Ice,Ice Baby" during passing time. Innocent fun was possible back then. You could play current music without getting fired for corrupting the morals of a minor.

Mayo is obviously not qualified for the job. But who's fault is this? Do you blame the guy who got hired who's not qualified or the guy who hired him? They even compounded this problem with hiring coordinators who are as unqualified for their roles as Mayo is for his role.

No legit HC candidate will work for Bagdad Bob Kraft if he cans Mayo after Kraft praised him profusely.

They will see Bagdad as a weasel focused on his own image and trying to remain a big shot amongst NFL owners.

Many variables exist here. But I agree. There needs to be one voice. The HC should be the one with that voice. Collaborations rarely work. Losing exposes who people are and winning masks it. IMO the team is clearly not as connected as they should be.. and that falls back on the coach. Mayo appears to be at a lost.. im sure he didn't anticipate things being this bad. His first mistake was trying to sell the idea that Brissett gave the best chance to win. I mentioned zap should have been kept around instead, and money allocated to a real LT.

However here we are.... I can just sense Mayo's time is coming to and end here.. especially after another home loss and beat down coming up Sunday against the Jets.

Please, please, please be right, and don't be wrong.

With the way he's played within this ****storm, I might think he is unruinable.

The real danger is he gets wasted.
I said it one of the other threads but I worry that his career takes the trajectory of Justin Herbert. Not that the book is written on Herbert yet, as he is only 26, but the Chargers just seem determined to hinder his progression. All the physical talent in the world and a team-first mentality but saddled with a couple of terrible, first time head coaches. Now that they have a coach with a track record of success he is an old school hardo who would rather run the ball 30 times a game and play defense. Harbaugh basically has a Ferrari and he won't shift out of second gear.

I just don't want the ineptitude of the franchise to squander Maye's potential the way the Chargers have with Herbert (and Rivers, and Brees).

The media tour Bill would go on would be tremendous to watch lol.

Where is Tom E Curran these days? He was a leaking sprout during BB’s last days. Have not been hearing lately. Can’t criticize Mayo his buddy?
He's critical of the team as a whole. Check out his pod.

Mayo was where he was getting everything from.

This is far too defeatist, even for an old crank like me. The next step would be for Robert to step aside, so that Johnathan can have a whack are reestablishing the franchise's credibilty with those whom we migtht want to hire. Moreover, NFL HC jobs are VERY much sought after, and there is certainly the chance that some bring young fella either presently working as a college HC or as a coordinator on another NFL team would be willing to give the job a try.

The present situation blows, but it is not irreparable. The pateint isn't dead, but pretty radical surgery is definitely going to be required.

If he wins 1-2 games he'll become this millennium's Rod Rust

This is horseshit. Tom is every bit as active and insightful as he has always been. You can keep your Beetle's and Wiggies. I'll take a guy with a working brain every time.
Curran is being exposed as being as much of a fraud as his boy Mayo. Curran led the Mayo for HC campaign & told everyone he had "elite" leadership skills. He lobbied almost as hard for the Pats to trade out of 3 & had Wolf listened to Curran's ill-conceived advice, the team would have made the biggest mistake in the history of the franchise.

Curran's done more to undermine the franchise than the detestable Jon Tomase.

I don't know what you're mad about. I like Curran and he's one of the few beat guys I think is legitimately tied in.
