Belichick remarks on Mayo's "soft" comments on Pat McAfee Show - "They're not soft"

Wow - all the posters complaining about Mayo blaming Bill should now shut up.

If I am Mayo, this makes it open season on criticizing Bill's mess last couple years. Bill really was out of line here.
Aikman just basically called out Jerry Jones for not Signing Henry is that out of line?

Bill doing Mayo no favors with that commentary, not that he owes him or anything.

He wasn’t trying to do Mayo favors he was calling out an egregious violation of throwing his players under the bus.
I know of zero examples ever where a HC calls his players soft in a press conference.

Thats what you get when you annoit a guy HC in waiting before he had managed a person a day in his life or held a whistle on a single practice.

I'm not sure why you're bringing that up.

All those guys were old. They are gone. That was the entire point of the rebuild.

I don't think think they were soft so much as they were slow. You can't help being old and slow. They were thrown on.

They lost in the playoffs.

Then they were off the team. All the guys who comprised last year's team were brought in here for the rebuild. Young and fast guys who played last year.
Thst was just something I was talking with a poster that has bills nuts in his mouth who tried to act like the defensive side never had any soft games. That's all really.

But this is the thing, none of the players you listed were considered good by anyone except Belichick. Do you not remember what the GMs and scouts said about all these players you listed above (granted Rodney and big Ted were not on the team yet). They called them a roster that is the most lacking in talent in the NFL. We're looking at these guys now for how good they were, but back then, before they became a great team, they were thought of as being horrible.

There are people still commenting on the Patriots who thought Seymour was a horrible pick that year.
Huh?? good?? Rodney a HOF snub big sey is a HOF. Player. Not sure what you mean not good?

Rodney wasn't on the team back then.

Seymour was a rookie who people declared a bad pick.

And I'm pointing out that the defense you're talking about wasn't soft.

Mayo doing this screams of frustration that it’s slipping away from him and his approach is failing. You don’t do this is you have any confidence that you are getting through to your players and think you are headed in the right direction
Mayo doesn't call plays, he's not an Xs and Os guy, he probably doesn't have much hand in the gameplan. All he has is how he "leads" the players. If he can't get through to them, then what is his role?

I was listening to Belichick last night describing Ed Reed. He said they had an Ed Reed punt block scheme. Any time reed rushed the punter there was a protection change. Sometimes he went an entire season without rushing on punt block but they still prepared for it because he was so good at it.

We went from that to “I don’t do Xs and Os or game plan” and are surprised we are the worst team in the NFL?

Oh ok.. thanks for the clarity.. I was reffening to 03 and beyond.. as 02 we played terrible on defense. Those are my generation of players. I wish we had those types of players now.

Definition of figurehead. Go figure.

"egregious violation" lol

Parcells was an old school, hard nosed coach. Mayo was reported to be a next generation, players coach. Now you are saying that Mayo is an old school, hard nosed coach? Which is it? Old school coach or a players coach?
I never called him any kind of coach, I'm not in the locker room so I have no idea, I was just saying some coaches have used the media to motivate their players, that's all.

I think we'll find out really quickly if it worked.
