He's getting that valuable real game experience, going through his reads, making his passes, throwing some TD's , making mistakes, getting rid of the ball when theres no one open and taking a sack like in the final moments yesterday when there was nothing else he could do instead of playing superhero like Josh Allen did many times and doing a bonehead play and getting injured or throwing a pick 6.

Maybe he is getting good advice, doing good film room sessions. This season is lost and he is starting his career with a large negative record, hopefully he will catch up and turn into positive next season on. This season is all about not ruining Maye.

This is a season where they should be building the foundation of what they want to build going forward. Yes, not ruining Maye is part of that but there's a lot more to it.

but hey, take the sunshine when it peeks through the clouds... Maye is doing fairly well... already is better than Brissett, but honestly, who didn't expect that since day 1?

The developmental aspect of Maye is indeed the silver lining for the 2024 New England Get-Rights...

Maye is very good. Josh Allen/Aaron Rodgers vibes in terms of play style. But, that's really it right now. Pop is fun, Gonzo is good. Rest eh.

Drake is the silver lining.

But this is probably going to get uglier as the year goes on. They haven't exactly fostered a don't quit culture. I hope guys show some personal pride but the leadership hasn't exactly taught them how to work through difficult times. Their messages have mostly been that things don't have to be so hard so I'm not sure what answers they possibly have for when it actually is this hard.

Maye can't do it all. They need to find a core with him to take into 2025 and it doesn't look like much progress is being made right now.

I need to know why he wasn't the opening day starter, now.
If he's *this* much better than Brissett at everything besides ball security, why in the blue **** wasn't he starting? What geniuses in The Committee decided he should sit? You wasted 5 games of development for absolutely nothing.

There are a few other guys doing a good job. Both kickers are great - that is not a small thing going forward. It looks like Hunter Henry and Drake Maye have found some chemistry, so if Pop Douglas, Boutte and Henry are reliable go-to guys for Maye, things can continue to evolve. Stevenson is very good at RB and can only do what the OL makes possible. The new Center - Ben Brown - did a good job in an emergency fill-in role and at 25 could be a great find.

I think the running game play calling sucked against Jacksonville. They continued to run where the defenders are behind a crappy OL. The running game needs a lot more variety to give Rhamondre a chance to get in a position to break tackles instead of plowing into interior defensive linemen. It also looked to me like somebody is tipping off the defense that a running play is coming. Jacksonville seemed to know before the snap what the Pats were going to do.

From some guys following Drake Maye at UNC, the issue in camp and early on was getting used to taking snaps under center and all the footwork necessary to run play action, five and seven-step drop backs while looking downfield, and as with all rookie QBs, knowing the nomenclature and playbook which was entirely new for him, He operated exclusively out of the shotgun in college. The other thing is recognizing defenses and having a sense of from where the rush is coming, Even veteran QBs struggle with reading defenses pre-snap in the NFL.

I was hoping to see him sooner, too, but the guys in the QB room know what's up.

He looks pretty comfortable out there and is just beginning to build some chemistry with his receivers. He's made good decisions about when to run the ball so far and that has to give defenses pause. I wish the running game were better the last two weeks. Maybe things will get better with the young center, Ben Brown, on board and a little stability up front. If Sidy Sow could settle in with Mike Onwenu on the right side, there may be some progress there.

All this stuff about him starting earlier in my opinion is a load of BS. He started when the coaches thought it was the right time (for whatever reason) Are some of you QB coaches, do you know any better. If so why aren't YOU coaching in the NFL or College?.
