Certainly not when it comes to halftime. I have yet to see any real changes coming out of the half on either side of the ball in any game this year. I just don't understand why every first down play must be a draw, can some with more football knowledge explain to me the tactical advantage of getting between -1 to 2 yards on first down.

Even worse is the run defense. The last three games they've allowed 193, 192 and 171 yards rushing. I don't care WHO the players are, run defense boils down to scheme and effort. They never make in-game adjustments, let alone from week to week.

Before the season started, I said that it was going to be the defense where we most feel Belichick's absence, it was just a question of how much.

I'll bet the defense would be better off even with Steve Belichick coordinating. At least he had experience calling it on game day.

The big gaping hole in the middle of the run defense would be easily solved by signing some massive run stuffer out there, even if it's some older guy waiting for somebody to call. He would hold the line until Barmore potentially returned. They didn't sign anyone, they brought in some undersized longshot, late round draft pick, UDFA waive wire types off the scrap heap. I suspect BB would have made a schematic change as well, went back to a 3 DT type front... adjusted.

The big gaping hole on the offensive line, that should have been addressed in the offseason... too late now. They brought 4-5 longshot, late round draft pick, UDFA waive wire types in since the season began and came away with one player in Demontry Jacobs. Unfortunelty Wolf relied those same sort of scrubs back at the start of offseason thinking they were good enough to start... which is why they stink right now.

If Mayo is the guy ready to lead these guys... can anyone explain why Polk was shoehorned in as a starter despite his atrocious hands all season and there has been zero accountability for his atrocious hands? You want to trade Thornton, so you're putting him on ice and letting him collect a paycheck with zero chance to up his trade value or prove his worth by playing him with the first QB in his entire pro career who can actually throw long?

I think Elliot Wolf makes personnel decisions from up on high and Mayo does what he's told. We're being forced to watch Polk because Wolf wants to justify the draft pick.

I think Belichick is still in charge. Kraft said he wanted collaboration and he fired Belichick as a misdirection and then made him shadow GM and head collaborator.

Something i never understood. The so called "patriot way" has been successful for 20 yrs. yes not 5. So why abandon and try to distance yourself from it so hard and try this supposed "packer way" which has 2 SB appearances in 25+ yrs with 2 elite QBs ? Its as if they decided everything BB did was bad and we will do opposite.
Scrutinizing this organizational transformation from a higher altitude, one can clearly see traits of Jon Jon's New England Revolution Way.
Disfunction and indifference

Oh this is juicy. It's a long con. Belichick will get an HC/GM job at a bottom feeder team and then trade all draft picks over to NE once is done, but in the meantime they need Mayo to look bad to justify his firing come time for the hero to return home.

You could be into something.... The biggest con in NFL history...

It was laughable Sunday when the Jags ran the ball 18 straight plays and we never adjusted for it. I mean come on that's what every team was doing to us (loading the box) with Brisket under center, did they not pay attention on how you do that?

I'm not sure if you guys saw this about Osborn, since most people are focused on Polk's instagram (which I don't even know what it means) but Osborn signaled "Call Me" when he caught that TD. And his agent reposted that and said they are making moves.

I don't care if the coach is a failure, I don't care that Robert Kraft is a fink and a coward, I just want Osborn to be destroyed for doing that.

Make him inactive every game and send him on paid vacation away from the team. Don't cut him. Let him stew. And never sign another player represented by this AH agent.

Belichick Derangement Syndrome

Does he...relate well to people though?
Throwing your players under the bus to the media week after week doesn't seem like great relations.
In the offseason, on dinners with Kraft, and on overseas trips he relates amazingly.

When there are actual stakes, not so much.

Bad bad press conference this morning by Mayo!

He has no grip on his team !

I’ll resume his press conference:

Coaching is fine, it’s the player at fault for not playing good enough

There is no discipline in the building. Players can do whatever they want.

Fire this guy already

I fully understand the sentiment and even share it.

On the other hand he signed a contract with what was promised to be an NFL franchise, which he's seen now for the lie it was after spending the last 7 months in the building with Mayo as HC.

I get it, F him, and good riddance. Just can't be too mad at bad apples right now when the whole tree is rotten.

At some point, you have to punish dissent.

It doesn't matter that things are screwed up. You want to build with the people who are tough and don't do what Osborn is doing.

I'm sure most of us have been inside orgs that go astray with poor leadership, and you see these kinds of behaviors. You also see others making moves to right the ship. If you don't cut out the guys who are selfish and only for themselves, the feelings will start to fester.

Of course, it really becomes demoralizing for everyone when bad leadership doesn't evolve, find solutions, or worse, stay in place.

Yep; in fact the Pats’ very first play from scrimmage of the 2nd half - after having all that time to prepare AND after the Jags had the ball first - was… An up-the-middle dive by Stevenson for - you guessed it - a Negligible gain. Unimaginative, cookie-cutter Idiocy.

It's not surprising to see stuff like what's happening with Osborn. Players are looking out for their own interests vs. the team. They expect to be given opportunities to compete, not have playing time handed over to guys like Polk or Thornton. A young coach like Mayo is going to lose the locker room if the vets feel the season is being treated like a throwaway and young guys are just being handed playing time (or in the case of Maye earlier, not given playing time) because of the organization's long term goals. Stop gap vets you sign to 1 year deals don't give a damn about your long term organizational goals. They sign with rebuilding teams like this because of the opportunity to earn playing time and they expect to be given a fair shake at it.

Now, Osborn has bene incredibly uninspiring himself when he has played so maybe he should cool it a bit lol

Steve Belichick has turned around Washington’s defense on his own. In 2023, they ranked 99th in the country. In 2024, they are currently 9th. This is exactly what I wanted to see from him making a name for himself. Look for him to get an opportunity in the NFL as a DC if he keeps this up.

I have always been of the position that Kraft would give Mayo at least 2 seasons to prove himself, and I thought that there would be many losses in that time, especially this season, but I never considered the situation where Mayo would lose the locker room and the team wouldn’t play hard for him, and that’s starting to look like what is going on. If that actually is the case then it could end up being one and done, in which case Wolf is going to have to nail the next HC pick, or this franchise could go into the ****ter for years to come.

I hate the idea of a GM who -- I don't think -- shows great skill in picking players is still in charge to pick the coaches. Especially when his connections lead us to taking AVP from the Browns.

That being said, I don't know the particular offers that were made to other coaches. Did we refuse to pay for Kingsbury to be the OC when we knew we couldn't pay him more than Mayo?

Who knows...
