We could have drafted a LT who might have started in 2025

When a team has the most cap space in 2024, 2025, and 2026, the lack of effort to incrementally improve the team should be the message when the team only approached 2 premium FAs.

Instead you discuss that neither FA wanted to come to NE without noting that Ridley took the most money, and Aiyuk turned down every other team too to stay in SF. Aiyuk was never leaving SF and the Pats situation had nothing to do with it, but the excuses continue.

Maybe you saw Wolf will be GM of the Year posts? Hilarious. .

Yes Maye will be key, that is agreed.

My apology, I thought we were still in 2024. I had no idea Wolf had wasted all their cap space in 24’, 25, and 26’. Apparently I missed the last 3seasons completely. Hopefully 27’ will be better.

****, I missed the 26’ World Cup as well. Anyone know who won?

Where's the data that backs any shame on Wolf statement. the LTs taken second round are no more or less a project that is Wallace that the pats got in the 3rd round. Parillo said Wallace and Layden Robinson both look physically impressive in camp, but are navigating the rookie learning curve as you would expect. Did you think Wallace should have started already before the Cincy game? There's no real football even played yet to deem what your saying. We won't know for 2-3 years if the pats picks in rd2,3 were good, bad or otherwise. and to say "we might have drafted an OT at 68 that might be a solid backup in 2025" what? They drafted Wallace 3rd round. C'mon. Do you know how many people vented that Wolf and BB prior didn't follow their draft boards and condemn them as such? Even with no football played. Make a statement 2-3 years from now on this topic and name who you'd pick now.
Wallace should have been pegged since he was drafted as RT and been practicing there since day 1!

Polk has been absolute trash. But, in fairness, it would have been tough to predict he’s become a total headcase and get the yips.

The only defense of the pick is that, so far, no one taken after Polk has done much of anything either.

Most of he guys taken just before (Worthy, Coleman, Legette, McConkey) have been ok so far, but nobody is lighting up the league.

Passing over Patrick Paul, that stings.

Can we wait for them to suck before we *****?
That day has arrived.

He had a bad game, let's see how he does with Maye going forward.
He has been worse since Maye took over.
He is now down to 11 receiving yards per game.

I'm working on a ss to help determine the drafting strengths of all the AFC teams. So far I have all of the picks from 2000 to 2024 by each team in the AFCE, AFCN and AFCS. I'm just starting on the AFCW. I have each player's year drafted, round, pick number, position, number of games played and their AV from pro football reference. To my surprise after all that's been said here (even by me) the Pats are kings of the draft in the AFCE for that time period and it's not real close. Once I finish with the AFCW I'll try to compare all the AFC teams in various ways and see what shakes out.

One of the problems doing this is that it isn't just about the number of top players for each team. Back in 2000 the Pats picked Tom Brady in the 6th round and he ended his career with the highest AV of them all at 184. But the Jets had multiple 1st round picks that included John Abraham (91), Shaun Ellis (70), Laverneus Coles (68) and Chad Pennington (55). Who won that draft?

This is a segment of the AV rankings of the Pats with the player's AV. Do those look accurate? Mac Jones at 24 while Aaron Hernandez, Sony Michel and Kyle Dugger at 21 has me skeptical. I did notice though that they seem to rate QBs slightly higher than other positions

Pro Football Focus took a look at all of the offensive lines around the NFL heading into Week 8 action. When it came to New England, they ranked them dead last.

"The Patriots' offensive line remains undoubtedly the NFL's worst. Sidy Sow, who replaced Layden Robinson due to an injury at right guard, was the lowest-graded offensive lineman in the NFL in Week 7 (21.1). The second-lowest grade belonged to left guard Michael Jordan, who earned a 29.5 mark," they wrote. "The New England offensive line has allowed 108 pressures — including 15 sacks — on 255 pass plays this season, leading to a last-placed 75.9 PFF pass-blocking efficiency rating."

It's always very easy to criticize a draft by cherry picking the luscious players that were drafted after any particular spot. That's because you get to pick the best from a few hundred players. If you are focusing on a particular position like OT you still have around 20 players to choose from - and surprise - some of those will have turned out great.

Eight OTs went in Round 1, so the cream was already off the board. And then they got surprised by a run on OTs and weren't able to trade up.
