Kraft regrets giving Belichick so much power without “checks and balances” in place.

Our roster and drafts left a lot to be desired and that regard BB being in charge had to answer for it and he did by getting fired. What I dont get - Yes he made the choices and was in charge but he wasnt incharge of talking to every prospect in the country, shortlisting, watching film on all the 1000s of players . Groh and wolf must have been doing something. If they werent- then they shouldnt be entrusted with this rebuild. And if they were and getting overruled by BB then they shouldve pushed back and made themselves some case for it. Just by following along and then once he leaves calling it a "hardass vibe culture" doesnt leave them less culpable. They have role to play in this roster as much as BB unless we have proof that wolf and groh e.g wanted AJ brown but BB took nkeal harry. BB owned those picks but there must be some consensus right ? Not like he was given a list and on draft day decided we are just picking this guy because i said so.

Same as someone saying they weren't.

Seems you don't know who he was. Shame. He was the best analyst ever.
The two things I liked most about Sports Illustrated back in the day was Dr. Z’s articles and the yearly swimsuit addition.

You confuse your B's. You mean after Belichick and Brady made him billions...

There is no Brady without Belichick.

and because two things can be true at the same time...

There is no Belichick without Brady.

Without either one of them, Bob doesn't make his extra billions that winning Championships bring.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

So dear readers,

**** off to all who walk this destructive path of one or the other.

It was Mother****ing BOTH.

for some incomprehensible reason, this seems to be a very hard thing for some to fathom.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and apologies ahmed, that was not entirely directed at you.
I nominate this as the post of the year.

Blaming your predecessor is a time-honored tradition after a management change in any business...
True, this adage holds when Mayo is taking his shots. For this to be applicable in this case RKK should be blaming Orthwein, not the coach he hired as part of his organization.

Oh really? Where did I say that? Now if we want to look at what I *actually* said, what i said was:

“That’s a VERY generous way to describe a single Wild Card victory.” (In response to you saying Cleveland was a Super Bowl contender)

And….

“Some jerkoff picking a team to win the Super Bowl does not make them “a Super Bowl contender.”

You need to work on the old reading comprehension, my ignorant friend

All you are doing is inventing things I never said and calling those made up statements “wrong”.

Try responding to what I ACTUALLY said next time.

He can be the greatest columnist in the history of the world, but Super Bowl predictions made in August are beyond worthless - no matter who makes ‘em.

This genius you speak so highly of picked the Bills to win the Super Bowl 3 straight years. How’d that work out for him.

Everyone has got a great shot of going to the Super Bowl - in August.

All I did in this thread was point out that the Browns under Belichick won one single WC game. That is 100% an undisputed fact. Ignoring how that fact completely triggered you, all you’ve responded with is “they were predicted to…” and “they were considered…”

If predictions make team contenders then Dallas is the best team in the NFL over the past 10 years.
You are full of crap. Use all the direct quotes you want.

You know exactly what you implied and meant. Good effort.

You know, you can disagree with me... But you will never convince me I'm wrong. Why you might ask... Well I will tell you... So sit back and relax and learn why

Your fatal mistake is allowing the argument of one or the other to take hold... it's a logical fallacy from the start, because simply put Football is a team sport... Players come and go. Coaches come and go... Once in a while you get a group of players and coaches that are special, which is what we experienced for 20 years... It's a balancing act of relationships over an extended period... The players play, but it's the coaches who do the dance trying to keep everything running smoothly... Both play off of each other.

No matter how good a coach is, no matter how good a player is, they cannot do it alone... This circles back to concept of "team sport"... 53 guys... Brady and his teammates played their hearts out ... Driven to achieve... And all the while belichick worked to keep things pointed in the same direction...Take one of the two out and the team is no longer balanced... They don't have the level of success apart that they had together... It was never been done before... and while it is being challenged now by the chiefs, its a rare feat that does not happen on the regular... Dynastys rise, they fall, rarely do they maintain a level of excellence over a two decade span...

That you complain about roster management underlines just how important a coach is to a franchise... As important as a player? No, especially a star player... But without the vision and preparation that a coach provides, what do you have but a collection of guys wearing the same jersey...

Did Belichick make mistakes? Sure did. Let guys leave that he should have kept? Yup, no doubt. Screw up some coaching hires? Indeed. But he also found guys that fell thru the cracks, developed them, turned them into players ... Developed guys who became pretty good coaches while here, who knew how to use the players strengths and weaknesses to the teams best advantage... he stood there thru the good and bad, praising his players when they did well, took the blame when it didn't... when **** hit the fan, he was the one who took the scorn and abuse, as much he could... whats that worth? the guy we have now is 6 weeks in and has already thrown the players under the bus... Did Bill lose his fastball at the end? Yeah, but the guy was 70...

While you blame Belichick for the mistakes he made, you never bring up the players mistakes... The guys who dog it... The guys who weren't professional in their profession... N'keal Harry is a great example of this... What's your first thought? Draft bust...Bill made a bad pick... Fine, but where is the accountability of the player to practice hard, to play even harder in the games? Funny, we never hear the latter, only the former when it's brought up... Maybe if he worked harder, things would have turned out differently? But such is the state of football today - players get all the credit for winning, coaches get all the blame for losing...

You can have the greatest collection of players on one roster... But unless someone is there to guide them, they won't win squat because teams are more than their component parts... the coach builds the team... he brings them together, and that's the value of a coach... its why coaches are more than just a replaceable cog in the machine... Belichick and Brady clicked... To steal from Sebastian Junger, together they were the Perfect Storm... Tom doesn't have 7 rings without Belichick. Bill doesn't have 6 rings without Brady.

Tldr: piss off... If I'm going to take the time to write it, you can spend two minutes reading it
Best post on the BB Brady debate ever.

Looking at the 50MM claim, overthecap.com (actually $36,797,494), I’m horrified to see the numbers for Onwenu, Peppers, Barmore and Stevenson going out 4 or 5 years! Extending these BB draftees at numbers BB, I believe, would have never proposed only highlights the fact that Kraft, Inc doesn’t have the fortitude/confidence to blaze their own trail.

They would rather blame BB for the roster than remake it in new Patriot way.
While Owenu is overpaid, it's only a two year deal. The Pats can cut ties with him after 2025 which I assume they will. Barmore extension was idiotic and Stevenson was also premature coming off a bad season. Fumbles aside, he's playing much better than anticipated. Dugger was also a bad deal. His production took a nose dive when he wasn't the #3 Safety. He's gotten exposed as the headlining player in the secondary. Peppers deal is where Dugger should've been.

Mayo complaining about the roster, yet signing many to big deals is just hypocritical.
Are you saying they should or should not have extended those players?
Sounds like they don't like the signings.

She's still got a body, gray hair but for her age she's just fine.
Yep. I respect the fact she hasn't gone under the knife, colored her hair, etc.

You are full of crap. Use all the direct quotes you want.
I will because the direct quotes show how full of **** you are.

“Bill took over a 3-13 Browns team a made them a SB contender” - Robertweathers (direct quote)

“That’s a VERY generous way to describe a single Wild Card victory.” - XLIX (direct quote)

“But…. But….. in August of 1995 some member of the media predicted they would go to the Super Bowl!! So that makes them Super Bowl contenders!!” - Robertweathers (paraphrased)

Bob Kraft was a hero to me until 2024. When Bill was leaving I didn't blame him but he soon made it clear it was his decision and I wasn't happy about that.
Then the documentary which was a hit piece to try and get people to not like Bill. How did he think he'd get away with that? Did he think all these players wouldn't say that everything good they said was left out of the documentary? At that stage I lost all respect for him and he's continued on trying to make Bill look bad.
He's a pariah to me now. I despise him. I want to hear chants at Gillette attacking him although I think the best way to get him would be the chant 'Mayo out, we want Bill'.

That chant would sting, but there is no way BB would ever come back. I think he would get his best revenge by taking another coaching position and having success with it. Post-Pats Brady was obviously successful, so if Bill could do it also - Kraft would be even more diminished as the architect of the dynasty. Clearly that is the most important thing to Thunder...

I will because the direct quotes show how full of **** you are.

Remember the "terrible" Cleveland Browns of the 80's? The one that ended the decade with 5 straight playoffs including 3 AFCCG's? There's some weird inability to not deify BB by some here.

Seeing how you are quoting correctly we've confirmed you aren't Ron Borges....

He either doesn't go back that far because he doesn't know or won't go back that far because it weakens his ****ty argument.
