2 years ago I would agree, but last draft was loaded with tackle talent. It set a record for tackles taken in the first round.
The 2024 class was good, I just like what I’ve seen from Campbell a lot more than what I’ve seen from anyone drafted this year.
Alt, Latham, Fuaga snd Guyton are starting, I think Rosengarten may be starting also, the rest are currently injured, not playing OT, or on the bench. Oddly both Alt and Fuaga, who I thought were the two best OT prospects (and posted as such this time last year) are starting on the opposite side from where they started in college. I still like those two the best from this year, really didn’t like Latham at all, liked Fashanu and Mims but thought both needed a year in the NFL to develop, liked Fautanu and Morgan as OGs not as OTs, and thought Guyton, Paul, Fisher, and Sumataia also could be good OTs but needed a year. I wasn’t a fan of Rosengarten or Wallace at all, I thought they were both over drafted by at least a round.
It goes without saying here that I barely know what I’m watching out there and form my opinions strictly from watching games on TV or clips on the internet. What I look for in an OT are their ability to move as quickly or better yet more quickly than their opponent their opponent, stay balanced, fight well with their hands and keep their guy from getting hands into their chest, and not commit penalties at the college level. For a high pick I need to see him dominate most of the time, win most of the matchups against highly rated opponents, give up very few sacks and pressures in general, be on the side his team runs towards more often, and play as well at the end of the game as he does at the start. That’s what I see with Campbell, not as much with Banks or the kid at Minnesota. Last year it’s what I saw more often from Fuaga, most of the time from Alt, more often than not from Fautanu and Mims, less so from Fashanu, and usually not from Latham.
As of right now if the Pars were picking #1 overall I’d rather see them with the best overall player who I think is Hunter, unless they can trade down and get Campbell and another #1. I like the WR from Arizona and the DT from Kentucky a lot, there’s another 3 to 6 prospects at WR, Edge, CB, and DT I like so far. Still a long way to go
