Coach Bill Potential “Gig”….

Wouldn’t this be quite the scenario? Jacksonville loses today by 20+ points while the owner has a “ meltdown “ watching from his box as yet another season is in the verge of collapse.

After the game a call is made to Coach B inquiring what it would take to give up his microphone and return to coaching. Coach discusses the offer with his other “boss” who tells him “well, it beats the cold up here in Nantucket Bill and besides I could go hang on the beach with my besties”.

Not daring to stand in the way of “bikini shopping “, Coach B. agrees and signs the most lucrative contract in NFL history and guess who Coach’s first opponent just happens to be?! That’s right sports fans, OUR New England Patriots!!

Woke up before the game is played but I would imagine the viewership ratings would be historic!

That'd be fun. Bill was a disaster here in his last few years, but he can still coach, I think (if he can get off his damned high horse about everything and if he wants to). I'd be happy see him succeed again, if he chooses to try. It'd be more hilarious if he wound up with the Jets. More than a few heads would explode trying to get their thoughts in order behind that scenario.

Doubtful Bill ever coaches again but Pederson as a FA coach is very intriguing. He’s an offensive mind. Don’t think Kraft will pull the plug on Mayo right now but AvP’s seat isn’t as cold as it was. If/when Belichick returns to coaching, I would think he would choose a team that offers him a reasonably quick path to 28 more wins.

Jacksonville looks like a team where that is going to take a while; plus the Jags don't fit the checkbox of stable, non-meddling ownership.

This is the NFL. Teams cycle. He was a disaster you say, as though this wasn't always going to eventually happen. The only people this DOESN'T happen to are the people who immediately retire.

The 2nd best team in this league is the Baltimore Ravens. Their coach just went through an entire decade with one playoff win. That's it.

Between 2015-2017 he had 22 wins. You have to see things through, especially as you start moving on from a former QB in Flacco.

It might be shocking for people to realize that the Jags have a lot of talent. From drafting so high all the time.

They have the WRs, the defense, they are maybe missing a QB but I bet McDaniels could rehabilitate Lawrence.

Pederson won a SB in Philly yet was fired first signs of adversity, then gets the Jags to turn around quickly before returning to a disaster. Seems to me like a guy whose act quickly wears thin with the players even despite success. Would rather look elsewhere if we decide Mayo isn’t the future. Let Dallas take him, would work out well for both parties.

I do think that a team could make some use of his expertise and experience in an overall managerial or advisory capacity, but I suspect he's too much of a control freak and narcissist to accept such a role, so it might not work, and his late record as GM and to a degree as HC on a purely results basis does enhance his appeal. Perhaps, and only perhaps, a team with all the pieces in place, ready for a near-term run at a championship, might be able to use him as HC, but that such opportunities are rare birds, and such a team might prefer to take on the latest Bright Young Thing from some coaching tree of passing renown. While out of gratitude for his contributions here I'd be happy to see him find such a spot, I acknowledge it is unlikely he will do so. Sic transit gloria mundi.
