The sudden decision to start Drake smacks of complete desperation and indecision.
The amateurs running this team do not have a clue how to proceed.
The fans are becoming restless and the Peppers incident makes the organization look even worse.

So they sacrifice Drake to make the bad press around Peppers (team captain no less) go away

If they were going to do this why not wait until Saturday to announce it and give Texans less time to prepare.

Mayo, Wolf, AVP are the keystone cops. I do not believe Mayo has any real authority. He is simply a figurehead.
I have lost all confidence in Kraft also.

This organization is circling the drain and will go nowhere until they bring in decisive courageous leaders who are not so concerned with pleasing the fans and making friends.

Why is this sudden?

Mayo basically said that Maye almost won the battle coming out of camp. They went with Jacoby and things have looked progressively worse with each week. I just don't see how this is a sudden decision.

Even Mayo couldn't defend Jacoby anymore he was that bad.

Impossible to really judge from my seat, but I se a lot of things coming out of this coach that says he is extremely sensitive to how he is judged. He sits t seem to be a take a hit for my guys kind of coach, but more so one who is worried about the narrative about him and how he can try to control it. It’s still early, and I’m an outsider, but that’s how it feels so far.

Maye might actually be ready to start his development on the field.

The line still sucks, but the schedule going forward is ridiculously easy.

I said in the offseason after the first month is when we should look to start him... that's now.

That's all NFL coaches who have not won SBs. They are all year to year.

Maybe because it is impossible to give the new starting QB the practice time prep he needs without the outside world finding out?

Everyone knew on Monday who was starting for the Patriots this Sunday. If you think they could have somehow kept it a secret, you’re fooling yourself.

I don’t notice that with other coaches.

The 70:30 rep split between the QBs was ideal for neither. Jacoby was being disadvantaged compared with every other QB, and May was only getting 30%.
So better for it to end sooner rather than later, just so long as Maye doesn't get hurt or become gun shy behind a leaky line.

This made me think of all the wide outs that were open last sunday, and brisket didn't seem to see them, or was to hesitant to throw. I think it was the later, he couldn't pull the trigger.

The NFL has been designed for mediocre QB's to come and and put up numbers due to the rule changes. This whole "sitting a player" is overrated. You don't draft a player #3 overall to erase one year when you have him on a potentially 5 year rookie deal. A HC and a GM need to find out quickly whether he's the guy so they can pivot and try to save their jobs.

It's the right move to play him now. He's not learning anything from watching Brissett. In fact, I think it hurts him.

Hi, just wanted to make sure you saw that your last thread complaining about drafting Maye has replies pointing out how much you fawned over him as a draft prospect. You’ve strangely gone silent on that issue. Kind of a clown thing to do.

Ugh! It's Foxborough.

Absolutely positive agree. You and I have been in agreement on maye since training camp. I felt the guy earned the job. He's everything you want in a QB.. he was heavily vetted by the organization pre draft so they know who they were getting. He can throw guys, open, make off script throws, he has a quick release. Brissett can learn from watching maye.

How do you know Maye isn’t ready? His weekly reps have increased since the beginning of the season.
