Unfortunately you’ve gotta put Maye in at this point in the season.

This offense has been absolutely horrible for three seasons running and now worse than ever. From a consumer stand point it’s unwatchable.
Why would you put Maye in? The OL is garbage, the OC is awful, and the weapons aren’t there. Why put the QB of the future out there? It gives people a reason to watch? It could wreck him physically and mentally.

Yes. They can. Because the #1 issue right now is the lack of capable starting tackles on both sides. People made fun of me for wanting the Pats to draft Bookend tackles instead of a QB.. We're seeing exactly WHY I wanted the bookend tackles. Because having a QB with this S**t line means nothing but wasting a pick. The QB isn't going to make Onwenu a better RT or Jacobs a better LT. They might SEEM better, but they won't really be.

The problem is that they aren't going to fix the problem this year. They're going to end up with a top 5 pick and will have wasted a year of Maye's development. And.. Guess what.. There isn't going to be anyone available in Free Agency at OT who will be worth signing. And the Pats are going to need to add a CENTER as well.

So, we could be looking at 3 rookie starting O-linemen next year. With Sow and Onwenu being the only returning starters.
The last two drafts I’ve wanted their first two picks to be OT’s.

The coaches learn absolutely nothing about who they have with Jacoby throwing 3 yards per attempt or whatever it is. If it’s not Maye yet then find someone else who will let them take something from this season
Well, they had Future Super Bowl Champion Bailey Zappe on the team, but then decided to roll with 2 QBs (still not counting Milton). At least the Zappenator can go through progressions and sling the ball downfield.

You’d have to revamp the pass pro with chips and/or extra bodies.

It’s a rebuilding year and I see us getting a top 5 pick next draft.

Honestly our o-line needs to be better. With the current o-line no QB is going to survive a full season.

Sure JB is far from a starting caliber QB but rather ride him until the wheels falls off than compromising our future QB. If o-line doesn’t get any better then put Joe Milton in there.

My biggest concern is Rhamondre, his ball security skill is awful. He fumbled every week this season. He might be on his way out if he can’t hold on to the ball.

This team also needs a true #1 veteran WR and hope we go for one next year if we can address many of our holes via draft next year.

Sucks to lose, but hey at least the Jets lost at home today against the Broncos lol
Bo Nix fever baby!!

Do you believe they're not playing Maye because he can't be hurt or because they want to make sure he's ready when he gets in there? If it's the hurt thing, send him in. Our line is terrible and only getting worse with injuries. There's never going to be a time that he's going to be able to go in and not face serious risk. That's Patriots football right now.

If you think that it's because they want to get him prepared, then why is he Brissett's backup, ready to go in if Brissett is injured... which seems likely?

It doesn't make a lot of sense.
I think of this in terms of gambling. Lets say a qb is going to be hit 10 times a game, over 17 games thats 170 hits. If there is a 1% chance of getting hurt on any hit that means there is 1 hit a game that could end up with the QB out. Obviously i am just making these numbers up to make my point but right now i think the pats brain trust is milking brisset for as long as they can to lower the odds that maye is the one that takes that shot. As soon as he does well thats 50 less hits Maye takes, 5, 8, 10 games he didnt roll a 1. I think Maye is ready now but the odds of him being Elite instead of good or great go up the longer he has to work on his fundamentals and learn the things brisset can teach like leadership and study habits.

17 sacks in 4 games after only allowing one sack in game one… hint, it’s the line.
We saw it in preseason. The starting line isn't great, but it's ok. The backups are so much worse. We just don't have backup depth yet, so now that we're on the second, third and fourth string players on the line, we're getting killed there.

No you are a liar. You make **** up then when you are called out you say it’s not your job to prove the thing you made to. The patriots were 10 1/2 point underdogs. There is zero chance in the world that you saw people on an nfl show “ predicted the Pats winning this game was money in the bank.”
I call your bs and we both know it’s bs and you can’t back it up
They dont call you Rong 6 for nothing.

Such a clueless Liar that you had to get a new screenname after Andy Johnson was worn out. New name same fan who knows 5hit.

Was listening on ESPN and was saying how dabol is on the hot seat.. also Cleveland is paying AVPs salary this season.. I believe dabol would be excellent for Drake. I can't see AVP here beyond this season at this rate.
In other news Rookie QB's Caleb Williams and especially Jayden Daniels look they thy belong in this League.

Well I guessed 4-13 this year which is .307
After today we are 1-3 which is .333

I am off by 2.6% so far.

1-3 is .250 isn't it? Or am I missing the joke with the moron Jets fan gif lol

The only thing Im trully disappointed by is how SLOW Brisset is.

I thought he would be a decent runner, but jesus, guy is slower than a tow truck. He's like Brady, without the QB-ing ability.

Still, holding out for SOME Oline stability (not even quality, just stoping revolving door that injuries are inflicting on us) before thrusting Maye is my preference.
Even back in 2016 he looked like he was playing in slow motion. He was never fast.

The starting line in preseason had Okorafor and Lowe starting and Onwenu at RG.

Now they have Sow, Onwenu who has to be moved back inside and Andrews who is hurt.

Jacobs wasn’t terrible, we’ll need to see more.

That’s two good linemen… you can’t win with two good guards. Wolf screwed it up in the offseason.

I would encourage patience on the oline. That is going to take several drafts to fix because we're not just talking starting linemen, we need to get much better at all of our backup linemen. That doesn't happen in one offseason. But I do agree, I wish they had done more there.

Woozy please all our LT's play the same they all get beat on the First move *the only difference is their numbers*. Teams aren't even Blitzing to get there if you haven't noticed after the snap DE's are there in no time. Onwenu needs to go back to RG he Sucks @ RT.

Are we going hear something about Cole Strange this week?? We Need his help!

No you play him after the bye and starting next year because there is a monster difference between a 21 year old kid making the jump from a smaller college starting week 1 with all the pressure and expectations of being THE man while lasting a full 25% longer season taking vicious hits against bigger, stronger, faster athletes versus giving that same kid 3 months to figure out NFL speed in practice, showing him how to study and prepare at an NFL level behind a Vet QB, and giving him unpressured time to work on footwork and other deficiencies in his game. I do think he should get his feet wet this year but throwing him into the deep end behind an offensive, offensive line is a good way to ruin his career before it starts.

Im willing to be patient and give Drake Maye the best chance to reach his full top 20 QB of all time potential and history is pretty clear sitting at least part of your rookie year is the best way to do that. Yeah Brisket sucks, losing with him isnt fun, but i am grateful for him taking the hits that might otherwise Derail a bright future. Getting hit is part of any Qbs job and eventually Maye is going get plastered too but i want him to have seen NFL speed in practice for 3 months and be comfortable with the offense before he does.
I understand that this very reasonable post will frustrate many, but it does make sense. In the normal course of things, Maye would benefit by the experience of playing in actual games. The problem is that this offense is so bad that I don't think he can reap the usual benefits of such an experience. This offense isn't good enough to afford him the experience of playing with legitimate NFL players, because most of them are not legitimate NFL players. He cannot reap the benefits of "real" NFL competition because they cannot provide that sort of competitive experience. If they were merely subpar and even modestly competitive, it would make sense to start him, but putting him out there to demonstrate that he can take the sort of abuse Jakoby is taking and still stumble back to the huddle for the next fiasco would be asinine, counterproductive. Barring some sort of truly weird renaissance of the offense, the approach suggested above makes the most sense, as frustrating as that might be. Maye in all likelihood is ready: the offense is not. I wish it were otherwise, but it isn't.
