This was never going to be a great season

Yes, critique Wolf and Mayo because Lowe can't stay on the field.
=============
After all, with Lowe on the field, we have a competitive team for this first year of the rebuild.
The premise of my post was about the state of the line. staying on the field or not performing on it. Let's not kid ourselves he wasn't really that good when he did play.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say Lowe can’t stay on the field. I don’t recall health being an issue with him last year. Same with this season. He got hurt and he’s just still working his way back. It’s not like he’s repeatedly injured, so it’s a little early to put that label on him.

And you’re right, he wasn’t necessarily great relative to the better players out there, but he’s shown glimpses that he can potentially be adequate enough for them to survive the season. Again, that’s not ideal, but they need to get through this year so they can replace him next April and he’s the best they have right now, unfortunately.

Since he's been with us here's what he's dealt with going back to last season... and games he's missed. Some players wether you want to call it injury prone or not. It not about labeling anything on him.

Availability is a players best ability Ian.. it could be his training, eating or whatever that can affect a players ability. Quite frankly I don't feel he's so good of a player that we make excuses for him. He's had injury or Ailment history since he's been here and has caused him to miss time.

Personally... I would like to see what we have in Jacobs or the giant In Jones at LT.. I'm just not sold on Lowe. I get everything your saying and comparably to what we have until someone either stays on the field or plays adequate then he's likely the best option. What a sad situation LOL.. this is why Mentioned was the thinking Hey we aren't going to play Drake this season anyway so let's just get by with some guys we already have in house we are rebuilding anyway?

I can almost bet you that conversation was had with wolf and Mayo. What do you think?

Don’t get me wrong, if someone else emerges, I’m all for it. But I’m just saying that he hasn’t been horrific when he’s been out there. He’s just been ok, which is what we might have to settle for to get through this season.

I’m curious to see Demontry Jacobs today assuming he’s the left tackle.

There’s a lot of cope going on here regarding Lowe. “Average” against a terrible defense in week one and struggling for half a game in week two is not a sign of improvement or competency.

Oh I definitely understand what you're saying..he hasn't been horrible I agree. But we are just hoping for 'ok" performances from the tackles. That would be a significant upgrade. No team in the NFL should be allowing pressure from rushing 4 against 5 and a TE or RB to help chip.

Agree...seeing anyone emerge at this point to give them even the slightest bit of stability would be nice.

It's definitely not, but it's just being realistic. Average is about the best they can hope for with this roster this season, and the theme for this year is going to be about improvement, even if it's minor. I'm guessing they'll target that position significantly next April and even forego whatever incredible wideout might be sitting there, knowing how critical this position is going to be for Maye in 2025. Without an offensive line, as we're seeing, it's pretty meaningless if you don't have time to get them the football.

The game plan was to get the primo QB this year, sweat out a horrible season, and then get the LT and WRs net season. I never thought that this made sense. The team is going to be so demoralized by the end of this year that it will be hard to heal the wounds net season. They must be already demoralized; what is going to be like in December?

You need to get the OL solidified and get more weapons before drafting a hot young QB. I still think they should have traded back with Giants or some other team, got their LT and maybe a game-breaking WR like Worthy, then bring a rookie QB into a better environment.

I don't think demoralized matters. What matters is TALENT. The Patriots were starved of talent on offense for years, didn't use early draft picks to replenish the offense, didn't use big free agency money to replenish the offense, and now we are suffering the consequences.

It's going to take more time. You can holler for Maye to start until you are blue in the face, we aren't winning games with the talent level we have on offense this year. We need a STELLAR offensive draft next year and we need to SPLASH CASH for stud offensive talent next year as well. Do that and we have the chance to become respectable.

That’s the game plan of losers incapable of seeing the paradox of it. No thanks.

And we cannot ignore the defense either as they did this offseason. Surely there were some FA's available. And they cheaped out on their best pass rusher in Judon; and, oh surprise, the pass rush seems to be a problem this year. Another unprofessional, pathetic move by the Patriots.

If they draft for offense next year, I sure hope that they do a better job than they did this year.

So, their first two picks were terrible? NOT

The defense would be much better served with an offense that can score and actually stay on the field and not hang them out to dry.

We gave up 30 in the San Fran game, but one of those was because of a turnover brought in for a TD. We held the Jets to 24 with Rodgers playing well, the Seahawks to 20 in regulation (and again that was a lot on our offense blowing it), and held the Bengals to 10. The defense shouldn't be ignored, but it's not the priority imo and definitely not why we are getting these results.

Lowe was acquired last year, didn't make him a BB acquisition since it was the collaboration. Wolf spoke about Lowe this preseason like he was the second coming of Joe Thomas and swooned over the length of his arms. Lowe was penciled in as starter before a single practice occurred, he was clearly a Wolf guy and viewed as a starter.

Okorafor was the very first free agent signing by Wolf and one of the first signings by any team in the NFL this offseason... he was clearly a priority in Wolf's mind. You suggesting they didn't think much of these guys now that they suck is you protecting the new regime.

Keep on making **** up Wozzy. Belichick was in charge, Belichick signed him.

Belichick signed Lowe, not Wolf. The people claiming that Belichick was simply collaborating with the rest of the front office are making **** up. Belichick had a long history of not listening to any voice other than his own. It made him the GOAT, but it also means he’s responsible for his ****ty decisions as well.

That's why Jonathan fired BB... because BB was in charge.
