This was never going to be a great season

But they didn't draft for need which is why the team is in the post it's in today. Having a shutdown corner is nice and all but finding Tackles was way more important.

The tackles available simply weren’t worth the pick. Getting an All Pro caliber CB instead of a back up OT was the right move. Broderick Jones was the only 1st Rd. OT in reach and he is sitting on the Steelers bench.

I think a lot more Patriots are thinking about the 49ers game than a hypothetical in hindsight...
I'm thinking about Travis Hunter....

U still haven't acknowledged how we got here. It's a reason we are here wasn't overnight.
Yes I did, I posted about it in real-time all off-season. You sign sht free agents and don’t draft linemen… don’t act surprised when your line sucks. The blame falls squarely on this front office.

Sure, wanna talk about that "above average" QB Brissett that you kept telling us about all summer? When will we see that guy?

I see the guy I expected... a journeyman backup QB.
Did you tell us all off-season Wolf was butchering the offensive line?

You say that like your hoodied hero didn't try to do exactly the same thing...
He started with talented players, he wasn’t trying to turn poor athletes into good ones. See Onwenu as an example…

The past influences the future and bad mistake were made with coaching and players.

It has been discussed so often it makes some here look like they are struggling with more than just the Patriots. For the life of me I will never understand why they do this on a message board for the whole world to see…page after page after page.

Well said. Great post. To fix any problem it's always good to realize how it happened, and how to fix it and maintain it. I agree with you 100x over.

Waiver wire order has been recalculated.
After Week 3, NE is 9th in line.

Arch, since you disagree who is the tackle they should have taken over Gonzalez? Jones is a benchwarmer, and the others would have taken multiple picks, and I definitely don’t believe they were worth that.

Dunno. I'm not a GM. They should have worked out a trade or some other maneuver to get talent at a position where they were clearly lacking and lack to this day. Desperate times and all that.

Paris Johnson and Darnell Wright went ahead of Jones, neither are starting Left Tackles to this point, and they allowed 15 sacks between them in 23’. And Johnson allowed 43 pressures. None of the 1st round tackles were worth the picks they were taken with. I understand why people want a franchise left tackle, I want one as well, but passing on an All Pro caliber prospect at CB to take a benchwarmer tackle is a bad idea. However it does look like they will be able to address the problem next draft. I hate drafting for need, but certain needs call for that approach. I’m hoping they can fix the OL this coming offseason.

Who are the "poor athletes"?

Define "great season." If the team makes sold progress in the rebuild and Drake Maye is shown to have "franchise QB" potential, it's a good season. If in addition a couple of this year's flash as even better than expected, it's a great season. I donlt much care about wins/losses this year. We ain't there yet. If you want to peg your evaluation of the season to wins, Google "tilting at windmills."
