I do not understand all the Brissett hate. What is he supposed to do with this train wreck of an OL and no top tier WRs? He gets immediately mauled when he drops back on 90% of the plays. Is he good ..no. But Most of the passing game woes are due to the crap OL.
Starting Maye next week would be stupid. 95% chance he finishes before the half way mark with multiple concussions or a separated shoulder.

He will be the next Bryce Young if they start him now.
I agree he has no time and the O-line is a disaster but JB has to be able to check out of a bad play or call out the hot blitzer, I don’t think I’ve seen him do that once, I’m not sure he can read defenses. I don’t think he is the biggest reason for the offense looking like this but he’s part of the problem.

I am. How did that so called top 5 defense look last night?
Seven of the Pat's nine offensive drives lasted five plays or less. They got sacked 7 times.

Pretty hard to play defense when you're on the field the entire game... especially missing your best defensive lineman and leading tackler at LB. Perhaps if the offense was semi competent we could have seen a more balanced game.

You don't understand football. Stick to basket weaving or something you understand.

Say what you want about Jacoby as a QB but he is a tough dude. Saw it in game 4 of 2016 when he gutted out a fractured thumb to start a game...

I really don't care about wins this year. I really don't. I fear putting Maye in right now will destroy the kid. Even in his brief appearance last night, I felt he still needs some significant work. He made, in my mind, mistakes that he shouldn't be doing.

On the screen to Stevenson that got stuffed at the line. He is supposed to sell that he is looking down field to try to draw defenders away from the line of scrimmage, but he threw the screen pass right away and Stevenson was blown up right away.

On another play, he immediately took of and ran as soon as the pocket started to collapse when he could have probably bought a few seconds to potentially get a passing play.

But more importantly than those mistakes, I still worry about his mechanics. He is going to develop a lot of bad habits if there is never a clean pocket. Look at what happened to Mac Jones, he stopped stepping to the ball because he was constantly having the pocket collapse around him. Maye could develop bad habits like that.

This year is about the development of Maye. That takes precedence over wins and losses.
Your right and that was the overall consensus this season. We got hope from week 1. But I injuries and inconsistent line play ( being nice) is what's permeation to losses.

This is the modern NFL if a team can't score you can't win. Even with the defense banged up they are still a sound unit. They looked lethargic last night and Rodgers took advantage. The game was over from the first offensive snap IMO.

On Drake.. if the organization collectively feels he would be better suited starting and having the offense look more fluid even with the line in dissary then it would be on them.

Jacoby is trying his best but his best isn't enough for this team. Yes not all his fault but he's had time for example on the hooper pass. A veteran doesn't miss that opportunity on a tream offensively challenged.

So... they're not a top 5 defense. Ok then. And they weren't last year either.

Nothing is static. When the Patriots lost Tom Brady to injury in 2008 were they as good afterwards? Ask me when the season is over.

Also they were that good last year, you just don't understand football, so talking to you is like trying to explain physics to a chimp.

That could be because they also put in the 2 backup OL, had no Rham or Henry. And the Jets just went full blitz mode during garbage time with no threat of run. It should change when they start to game plan with him, and he gets 80% practice reps.
Yes. Garbage time. The throw to pop was a nice completion and that could be consistent under Drake. A full week of preparation and game planning for Drake to start would probably be best for the rest of the season.

Drake is not a midget like Bryce Young not sure why they're being mentioned in the same sentence...

Mayo's comments last night let's me know and Curran said the same that the door is open on Drake starting.. a week of game planning, preparation and the play calling around drakes ability as opposed to Miss-ette. I like us to be in games.

They were not that good last year. And padding stats against the Tommy DeVitos of the NFL doesn't make a defense good.

I think our expectations skyrocketed after first win. Let's temper it down.

The line is bad but will not be as bad as what we saw yesterday.

I anticipate lowe and sow to come back and strange to be swing tackle and center. Wallace should move to RT and onwenu to RG. We better sign a good blocker or start using Robinson as a TE on left side.

And hopefully with those changes we become an average unit. Let's wait for 6-7 weeks before we make our judgements. This is a rebuilding year and if lowe develops to be an average to above average LT , that' would be the most fantastic development and the intangibles exist with him. He seems to be improving at a slower pace. When we give receivers 1-2 yeas to develop, why not give 1 year to tackles.

We have signed brissett to take the pounding and he is doing a fantastic job for the contract that he signed for .

If we can keep playing brissettfor Nother 3-4 games while maye gets garbage time experience and o-line stabilizes we can look to develop maye in the rear half of the season.

Let's not shift goal posts to achieve respectability. The goal is to preserve maye, slowly ease him so that he plays without fear, risk of failure or high expectations.

We need AVP to game plan properly considering line issues. So release ball in less than 2.5 seconds, bubble screen, jett sweeps , occasional zone runs etc.

I don’t like seeing Brissett speaking at the podium after the game with a smile on his face. I would think he would be pissed about the team getting embarrassed on national TV. Also Maye in the locker room laughing while answering questions. A different culture being put in place here.

We're talking about 2024.

But last year they had the 4th lowest scoring percentage, 5th fewest points per drive and were ranked #1 rushing yards per attempt in the NFL. The offense was ranked 32nd worst.

Again... you don't understand football.

I am guilty of not watching a minute of pre season (it’s never interested me) so I was skeptical of the rhetoric of the OL being such a disaster.

I’ve made several comments both on here and amongst friends that they should let Maye play because Brissett starting is a surrender of sorts….

I take all of that back. This OL is scary bad and don’t let Maye anywhere near the games until it can be fixed next year.

This team is really bad. We aren’t even in the same universe as SF, KC or even the Jets. Manage the pain with Brissett, get another top pick and get OL/WR help and try again next year.

Sadly, I think Mayo is the right guy to point things in right direction. We were pretty clueless in FA and it’s showing

Too bad they can't play Tommy Devito, Zach Wilson, Trevor Siemian, Gardner Minshew, Jimmy and Mitch Trubisky every week huh?

I did notice that in the 4th on the bench - JB seemed light and wide-eyed, while Maye looked pissed.
That's a great look IMO - Maye was taking the loss harder even on the sideline. He's going to be a competitor.

Blah blah blah...

Talk about 2024 and the new regime. Nobody cares about the past.

It’s time to cut the crap. This OL is embarrassing.

• Move Onwenu to RG where he is great guard as opposed to a mediocre RT.
• Play Wallace at RT for his 2025 audition at the position. If he can’t play, pay the best available RT in free agency.
• Play Sow & Strange at LG when they return for a 2025 audition at the position. If they can’t play, pay the best available LG in free agency.
• Overpay Donovan Smith or Bahktiari to get them to play LT this year.
• Draft a LT with the first round pick.

The pats can’t develop Maye or any of their young WRs with this OL.
