The defense played OK but bailed out the Seattle offense with critical penalties at the worst possible times! If those flags don't come out, we win this game.

The offense showed exactly why it's a work in progress. The offensive line collapses like a house of cards at the worst times and then Brisset needs to run for his life or gets sacked.

Our run game is effective but the defense KNOWS that's all they need to stop so they can stack the box and eventually we're going to fail to convert those 3rd and shorts. We need to be able to PASS effectively on 3rd down to sustain drives against NFL caliber defenses.

All in all, it was a winnable game. But our weaknesses ended up biting us in the butt and so we LOST.

Expect to see more of this in future games this season. We need to get more TALENT on the roster, especially on offensive side of the ball and the OL.

Seattle killed us with their deep WR corps. Metcalf and JSN both ended up with over 100 yards and double digit receptions! Their offensive depth is clearly superior to ours. Geno Smith is a career journeyman who was originally drafted by the Jets in 2013. How does he pass for 300+ yards on 75% completion percentage against us?

Anyways on to next week. The growing pains in the Rebuild continue.

Tbf the line was not that bad. We are on par with the Seahawks line .

Hopefully sow or strange come back soon and we have the following line

Lowe, Sow, Andrews, Onwenu, Wallace

Get Robinson in jumbo package on left side .

Brissett looks super limited and is so scared to throw an interception hence the dump offs.

Hopefully we get maye by week 5 and we get a win this Thursday against jets .

Lowe was injured and Wallace subbed for him. Wallace has more raw athletic talent than Lowe, so let's hope Wallace is an upgrade.

Sow and Strange would be great but I am thinking week 6? Sow and Strange are not even practicing yet.

The line was bad. both tackles were out played all day long. Pass blocking was not good at all.

Did you see Brissett deliver a pass in about 2 seconds? Any pass quickly, on time, and accurate? Even one? No.

Brissett creates pressure by taking so long to stare down the reciever. The hope is that Maye will be able to make the quick decision and quick pass so we don't need to worry about avoiding pressure after standing in the pocket for 3+ seconds.

While the OL is pretty bad, it will be interesting to see how much of the dysfunction in pass protection is on the qb once Drake is in.

Polk and baker have a combined 3 catches for under 20 yds in 2 games.
This is starting to be a large concern. I know Polk has the TD but it’s still not good enough.

Outside of that, you cannot win consistently in the NFL if you cant throw the ball; and if you throw for less than 150 yards like we did today you will likely lose at a very high rate.

I'm kinda on the program that they are better than the 2023 squad, which was as unwatchable at times as the early 90's team. There's improvement, but that's only going to go so far. Brissett is meh at best, and the OL is bad a pass blocking. They have to stay on schedule, stay out of passing situations, and if the QB has to win a game, then they are probably in trouble. As long as they are running the ball, they are pretty dammed good. Some of the pay calling is sus, the defense got gassed today and the FG unit let them down on the blocked FG. Overall, they are a mid level NFL team. That's better than last year, so thumbs up there. Thumbs down if it's playoffs or bust, because they have to have all 3 phases playing very well to win. The margin for error is freakin' small.

I disappeared the last 10 minutes or so when they started imposing their will on our d. For a supposedly top 5 d they played like ****. Limiting Joe burrow to **** and letting the hawks do what they did is frustrating. This is a game where if we had a better qb, he would have made up for the d crapping out and carried us. Jacoby, much as i love him, isn’t that dude. Drake is. I think if he played today the end would have been different ie us winning by a bit.

Until we draft a Left Tackle and sign a #1 receiver, this is what we’re gonna get I’m afraid. This team still seems to be far different than what everyone expected though. We are competitive, which I wasn’t expecting

Well, he can both learn what not to do (a lot of people learn those things from watching other people do the job they will soon inherit). But, more importantly, and something we can't see, we have no idea what he's learning about facing NFL defenses in real games. Is he able to read film and predict what the defense will do? Is he able to know what he should be doing at the line and with the ball? Is he doing what he's supposed to be doing on the sidelines?

Presumably, he's getting an education, so when he goes in, he's prepared.

I think the real minority position on this board is letting the coaching staff get him ready and play him when he is. And not just because Brissett is a career backup playing his career backup best... which isn't good enough. If anyone thought Brissett was going to be our solution at QB, they haven't been paying attention to Brissett's career. He's a placeholder to take the hits until Maye is ready.
He can still play the game itself and then go back and watch the film after, though.

I agree to a point but I feel like you’re not really doing him any favors having him watch someone else do the job badly.

Pretty good breakdown of whats going on.

I totally agree, but the part that mystifies me about the talk this last week is where we won one game and lost today and suddenly a lot of people feel we have to play Maye to keep our playoff hopes alive.

I’m fine starting Maye if he’s ready. But he’s going to be a rookie and make a lot of mistakes. If people are assuming he’s going to step in and just do better than Brissett because he can throw farther, it’s going to be a looong season.

Starting to think Keion White has seen all the, “but can he rush the passer?” comments over the years directed at Pats players and took it personally. Another good game for him

Yes I did see him deliver accurate quick passes, but they were to Henry and Hooper.

I think there was a quick pass to Hooper. Most of the passes to Henry were scramble type plays. Very rarely, if ever, does the ball come out quickly, on time, and hit a speedy reciever in stride. I think Brissett had 2 passes to Polk and no passes to any other WR.

I just finished rewatching the 1st half and I can 100% assure you that they did not get outplayed all day long. The OL had a pretty good first half. I could see Maye doing well with the time provided at least in the first half.

I think maye needs to play for the simple fact that I don’t see our wrs getting thrown to more than 1-2x each per game with jacoby. We aren’t going to learn anything about them and that’s gonna hurt in an evaluation type year, prettty important in a rebuild. With maye in there my hope is also the defenses at least have to respect the fact that we might throw more than 8 yards downfield. If that means making a few mistakes in the short term and sacrificing a short field here and there for the other team so be it, long term it’ll hopefully help. This is all assuming of course that he is ready and not being tossed in there prematurely. We’ll have to trust the staff on that part.

And if Maye starts, he has to remain the starter for the year. Team needs to work through his struggles. There will be ups and downs.

If he's throwing three picks per game, the coaching staff needs to live with it.

So...that's a big decision. Once you go to Maye, you can't bench him.

Awful coaching in OT and also Brissett was terrible towards the end.

I didn’t expect much out of this team, it’s gonna be a long year and hopefully Drake keeps developing because he will most likely start at some point this season.

I am just watching the offense and threw the 3rd QTR the defense just keeps getting closer and closer the LOS. Oh in case anyone is wondering its just as frustrating watching it the 2nd time
