Polk instead Kingsley Suamataia?

It's 100% a factor. Thursday night, every Pats fan who wants a OT screamed at the TV when Sumiatia was introduced, including myself. Collectively, you could hear it across NE.

"Ah **** we should have drafted that kid!"
Proving yet again there will be a collection of Pat's fans who rubber stamp anything the collaboration do because at least it's not the crotchety old guy who hurt Tom's feelings making the decisions.
This was a good game for a rookie OT
If this was a bad game for a rookie, how do they judge lowe‘s play who is a veteran with worse play ?
The same people telling us Sumiata played poorly, are many of the same suggesting Lowe and Okorafor have looked good this preseason playing against substantially lesser competition and looking like dogmeat. Typical biased agenda driven commentary you find on sport's forums.

Polk better be more than just a solid possession WR like Bourne if they gave up a starting left tackle.
"starting left tackle" - there are plenty of terrible starting left tackles in the NFL right now. OT in general, is lacking, which is why QBs who can move are a must now.

Every team has a "starting left tackle." That's a meaningless moniker. You have to add "very good" before it for it to mean squat.

The Pats OL is the biggest piece left to fix, I agree. If they had passed on Maye, traded down a couple of spots, and taken one of the top 2 + another second this year and a couple of high picks next year, I'd have been okay with it. (This year's QB draft class will have a couple of really good prospects in it.)

But they took Maye, SEVEN OTs were off the board. The odds of 8, 9, 10 being elite are what?

I'm not sure many have if any have said this.

Some may have said Lowe was playing the best of our options at LT. And some have said Okorafor plays better on the right than left. But this is related to our own oline not when compared to good olines in the league.

And some are certainly saying let's see how the unit comes together. Hopefully it's not as bad as we think but no one is expecting a top unit in the league.

…Also worth noting the Ravens got called for illegal formation four times in an actual game - Okorafor doesn't look quite so dumb now for his three penalties in a preseason game. Same ref.

Didn’t watch the game, because I Refuse to Comply, but I betcha the filthy ****ing Queefs were called for only one of those, tops.

Or, to get into the weeds, Giovanni Manu (taken 126 by Detroit) instead of mercurial, inconsistent Javon Baker (taken 110 by the WR-desperate Patriots).

A LT with intriguing physical tools who is raw versus a prima dona whose play can’t match his mouth.

There’s no way I would’ve taken Manu that early, however.

He stunk in Pittsburgh, is it the change of jersey that's going to make him better?
Potentially. If we had Scar coaching him. Or Cole Popovich. But the jury is out on the new OL coach. What’s his name? Scott Peters?

I agree. Until I look at the choices at LT. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

And there’s no denying Manu’s immense physical abilities and low ego high output character. He’s a guy I can’t help rooting for.

Detroit thinks with development they may have a future star. Much like Jordan Mailata.

No, you’re wrong, Captain. Although he was taken earlier than expected, Detroit did their homework. Sacrificed their third round pick in 2025. And they are serious about their OL.
Polk at 68 would’ve been the better, righter call.
I think Polk is a first round talent. And I doubt he would have lasted until 68.

The chiefs offense line jumping early with no flag but Stanley gets penalties non stop
Hate the chiefs
I don’t know which player started this, but the jumping T’s reminds of when LeBron brought traveling “crab dribble” to the NBA.

There’s also photos showing the Ravens T’s lining up 5-7 yards behind the LOS.

Even with the advantages these T’s have, they are still turnstiles giving up tons of sacks. Like the NBA, the talent in the NFL isn’t what it used to be.

The Patriots are playing in under an hour, if they’re starting Okorafor and Lowe they don’t have a starting left tackle. Semantics?

The Patriots could have had Maye and a real starting left tackle in the 2nd. The entire point of this thread.

Lowe has played a season and 11 games. That's hardly a seasoned vet.

Okorafor was a starting tackle for years until he opened his mouth in Pittsburgh. The point of this thread is that you believe that Suma or Paul or Rosengarten are going to be legitimate starting tackles THIS YEAR.

The former and the latter looked average at best the other night, even accounting for "rookie" mistakes. You're pretending that they'd walk in and secure the spot. That is not proven at all. If you want to make the case that the Pats should have been more aggressive in drafting an OT with their second pick, trading back up (they tried) to get one, I'm there with you.

But claiming that someone those guys starting changes the calculus isn't shown by the film of that game, sorry. Sumataia got smoked several times. A statue in the pocket would have been leveled.
