Just because he isn't starting game 1 does not mean that he will not learn while playing this year. To me experiencing the game time procedures a few times before he starts is a good thing as long as it is only a few games. After learning the basics, the footwork stuff is better improved based on game time situations and not repetitive drills.Spot on! One thing I can say about maye is the guy oozes confidence. He looks to me like he has that and more. I've said personally that Brissett is on borrowed time. This season is all about seeing what we have, and creating the foundation. If Brissett starts making errant throws, missing open guys, INTS and any semblance of how it looked last season you can bet mayo will sit him and put Drake in. AVP has no say in that. That is all on mayo he's the HC.
I'm excited to have football back! I'm looking for progress and growth this season I know we aren't expected to win anything.
Yes. That's why I was eluding to Brissett being on borrowed time. I'm talking it would really have to be obvious that Brissett just can't get it done. Preseason is all we have to base Drake off.. and what he showed Making deep throws look effort less, accuracy, getting out of bad plays.. those are traits you see in top tier QBs.I expect that Maye is in the lineup sooner rather than later. Kinda like Favre with the Falcons.letting Zappe go was kinda dumb. He was...plucky. I liked having him around.
Seen this before. Warner & Flutie couldn't get a job in the NFL.If there's a bunch, name five with four wins as a starter in the NFL. They should also know the AVP system or something similar, because we'll probably need one soon.
and we cut Zappe because he is so bad that no one in league wanted him on their 53-man roster as a #2 or #3, even though he has experience as a starter.
Right just like Kurt Warner and Doug FlutieEvery team had a chance to have Zappe on the 53 man roster at the start of the last two seasons. None of them decided he was worth a spot. Why? he's not that good and he's hit his ceiling.
He is cannon fodder.
can not have 4 qbs on roster. That is crazy
I'm not sure I'd go as far as Purdy, but I've seen nothing to convince me that he won't be a decent backup in the league. All the Zappe haters say is "he sucks" and the justification for that is he's on the PS. Mention that he's QB3 for the best team in the NFL, they just go back to "he sucks" and that PS players suck. It's circular and emotional, and the same drama that played out in the Zappe vs. Jones saga, just in a new context. I'm certain that if there's a KC QB injury and Zappe is elevated, they'll still say he sucks. "KC doesn't seem to think so." "He sucks." It's tiresome now.Seen this before. Warner & Flutie couldn't get a job in the NFL.
I've seen nothing at all ever to convince me that Bailey Zappe isn't a better quarterback than Brock Purdy.
Or Michael Bishop and Malik Cunningham.Right just like Kurt Warner and Doug Flutie
"Milton over Zappe" was a false choice. There was nothing stopping them from carrying 4 QBs. This team isn't going to the playoffs and each roster spot isn't so precious. I bet Zappe is still in the league long after Milton washes out.The Pats are a 3 win team with or without Zappe. Joe Milton on the other hand, could turn out to be a star! Plus he has more athletic talent in his pinky finger than Zappe has in his whole body!
Keeping Milton over Zappe was such a no braianer!
Zappe is only what- 25 years old? WAYYYYYY too early to give up on a guy with 11 career starts or whatever he has.
Zappe is in yearLet's try and be objective- Zappe is likely to continue to improve and Biscuit is likely to get progressively worse. A scary thought considering how bad he already is. I hated this signing when it happened. Now I hate it more.
If you kept Zappe you get 3 cracks at developing the next guy. The Pats through away an opportunity.
Probably not but there is a much higher probability of Zappe developing into a competent starting QB than Brissett. And for a fraction of the price.Zappe is in year 4. Doubtful the team was picking up his 5th year option anyway.
True - though Jacoby is only signed here for 1 year himself so I’m not too worried about the team thinking he’s more than the bridge that he was signed here to be.Probably not but there is a much higher probability of Zappe developing into a competent starting QB than Brissett.
