This could be the most frustrating part. I real honest analysis of last years actually games, as they were played says we won 6 more games with mediocre, less than awful QB play . A flawed team had enough strength to win 10 games if its largest flaw was only bad not awful.
You can pick apart those games and say beating the giants and devito doesn’t make you a good team for instance, but it still would have been 10 wins. Now, would that team win 10 against this years schedule, not a chance.
But you had the makings of a contender and a boatload of resources at your disposal. ADD TO and already good defense (instead we subtracted) get the QB right, get him some protection and although a better qb makes better receivers, built that out too.
Fix the problems. We didn’t do that and frankly took a half assed approach to it only adding cheap JAGs and not spending to the cap.
What we should have done was strengthen the strengths and shore up the weaknesses at least making them adequate. That’s a huge step in the right direction. Instead it just seems like we took a mulligan year and we will see if it’s worth trying next year.
