Remember when Mayo claimed the best QB would start week 1?

Remember when Mayo claimed we would burn cash in free agency?

He’s literally done the opposite of what he said he was going to do.

Now we have no LT, biscuit at QB, and a fan base on a hair trigger waiting to run our starting QB out of town the 1st time he throws an INT.

And here is the best part: Mayo earned it.

Ramifications of being winners for twenty years. People aren’t going to have patience for a rebuild, you can ruin a lot of young QBs this way. See the Jets for examples on how to run QBs and GMs out of town in short order then ***** about being losers.

London vs. the Jags and home vs. the Seahawks are potentially winnable, though we likely are significant underdogs in each. How would we feel about a 2-6 start? I guess it might beat expectations of Vegas, but damn....

And those 4 weeks will not be the difference between Maye being an elite QB and being a bum. Maye will have little development in those 4 weeks.

He will get almost no reps in practice and you don’t develop by watching film. You become better at football by playing football not sitting on the bench. Maye needs to play.

Well going on NFL history it's pretty simple, if Drake Maye turns into a franchise QB then Mayo will likely be the coach here for a long time and if he busts he won't be the coach here in 3 years.

If Bill Belichick couldn't survive a QB miss in the first round, zero chance Mayo survives one busting 3rd overall.

The difference is that Mayo didn't make the pick. Plus, Maye looks like the real deal and Jones never did.

There are plenty of QBs who started right away and waited but sooner or later won SBs. Whether a QB starts right away or sits it takes him time to learn. If sitting is such a help why is every other rookie QB this year starting, even on teams who were worse than the Pats last year?

Mayo didn’t have a say in the plan. AVP and Wolf put the plan together. The plan will change only if AVP and Wolf want to change the plan.

Mayo just a spokesman at this point.

Your probably not wrong on your assessment.. I believe mayo has GIVEN autonomy to AVP with the offense.. as Mayo's a Defensive guy. Look at our Defensive staff as opposed to our offense. Now.. Brissett is tied to wolf &AVP.. if he Looks abysmal.. I'm talking errant throws.. INTs.. skip hopping passes to open guys... I believe mayo tells AVP he's putting in Drake.

Also as Curran mentioned the set up is wolf and Mayo works in unison on football decisions.. I heard reports saying mayo wanted Caley, but caley chose to stay where he was..

I understand your point, but I think that is undermined by Mayo harping on the "competition" all summer. If this was his plan then he should not have tried to make things a competition.
