They could start him but try to protect him with screens, rollouts, etc. Ultimately they can't run a full playbook which limits the benefit of having him out there and developing in the first place. They can’t play Maye out of the gate behind this pathetic line. I was all for him starting week 1 but not after what I witnessed tonight.
Except it wasn't our starting OL.That was the starting OL in the first half. Hard to believe.
That was one of the knocks against Milton coming out of the draft.Cris Collinsworth was yuckin' it up on Milton's arm strength. The problem was he was using a flamethrower even on the passes that need touch. The sideline pass to Wallis, for example, could've been a completion if Milton wasn't drilling that pass. (FWIW, Wes Welker said Matt Cassel was doing the same thing in 2008.)
It's hard to see that your own guys are going to run into each other presnap.Brisett did not help himself on the sack.
He never even looked to his right and got drilled into the turf. The play is won or lost pre snap by anticipating where pressure might come from. Maye looked better behind center in regards to moving in the pocket and sensing pressure. Hopefully the bad snaps go away in 2 weeks when Andrew's comes back.
You know, "should look better" is fair. Let's be honest though, some of these guys were barely competent or adequate at their given positions and suddenly you're moving them around a few days before a game? For a stress test? Seems like they got the result they were looking for.The OL looked bad, but they have only been practing this group together for a few days. By the time the season starts, it should look better.
You seem like a good person. But we are clearly different. I’ve never once, since April, ‘wondered if there is still value in keeping Zappe around’.Makes you wonder if there is still value to keeping Zappe around.
Brissett’s already dinged up. Maye needs protected, and Milton is a 7th round rookie. (and starting him over Maye would be a horrible look)
Still hopeful this team could be looking much better later in the season. Maybe a 93 esque finish to the season.
2nd best? Sounds like our HC believes Jacoby > Maye.
Maye is sitting.
I believe Brissetts shoulder is probably a little more than he's letting on. He knows drakes hot on his heels. That wasn't even an NFL caliber O line Drake had to play behind. Yet Drake was still making plays.. Ian I get being cautious with Drake.. but the guy looks like a stud. The throws he made are what you see in top QBs..Nice showing from Maye tonight and a few positives to take away from it. However, a lot of questions remain up front and Brissett's shoulder injury will now be the point of discussion heading into the opener.

No. Nothing on Mayo to question. He's trying to follow the script the organization has been saying all off season with Drake. Mayo knows his O line is a disaster. And I am starting to really question his ability to coach this team.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Sit Maye until they have an actual Offensive LineThat was the starting OL in the first half. Hard to believe.
