OT: WEEI is rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic again

And MegO was the only reason I listened to WEEI in the afternoon/evening. She was the only intelligent football voice amongst the stupid shock jocks. She has a very pleasing voice/accent also; she was a joy to listen to. She was moderate and had a better understanding of football than the Adam Jones. Ugh....sooooo stoopid by WEEI, again.

The Big Show with Ordway and Smerlas and he various calls ins was the best ever and WEEI blew it.

Looks like it is that time of the year that WEEI reshuffles their on air roster to get crushed by 98.5. Adam Jones and Rich Keefe will be doing the midday show. Andy Hart gets a fulltime spot and Christian Arcand is promoted to head the afternoon show. Meggo is demoted to fill in host. Gresh and Fauria look to be out.

Funny, I think Meggo is better than Jones or Arcand who are unlistenable. Either way, it is just moving around crap to make different crap. I will never get why they continue to counter program Felger and Mazz with watered down versions of Felger and Mazz.

I guess the morning show is going to stay the same.

WEEI has no chance in the afternoons no matter how they try to adjust it. People don’t like to admit it but Felger is radio gold.

I don’t think 98.5 is a power house in its other shows but they have better radio talent. Joe Murray, Cerrone, even Matt McCarthy are all better than what WEEI has to offer.

Guys like Toucher, Zo, Bertrand are all very recognizable and even guys like Mike Holley and Bedard fill in as substitutes for 98.5. I’m not sure how WEEI still has listeners tbh.

The negativity works for ratings ... sad reality.
Beedle and Zo are great ... discussing dead people and planes this week ... they are nuts in a good way.

Fred Toucher seems like he already has one foot in the grave ... Hardy is useless.
The shows on the internet are really no better ... just constant blathering.
It has drowned out the some good beat reporter ... they are too rational.
I listen in my car from some odd reason ... it's a sort of self flogging if I listen after 2:00.

Everyone at WEEI is weak and they need new people. Gresh was OK at first but he is a 98.5 retread and is now back to his old self rambling with incoherent speculation. Fauria is only better than Merloni who was awful. There is a lot of improvement possible.

Gresh and Fauria were the best football commnetators on the air. Jones is the worst, even worse than Felger. The only thing that made Jones listenable were MegO's takes; they are all gone no so there is absolutely no reason for me to listen to WEEI again. Good riddance.

gresh goes way back in the local RI market and was slinging words way before the hub... worked with guys like scott cordishi and john rooke (the pats stadium announcer) on wpro... he was partnered with scott zolak at the time iirc

He also was with Coach Colletta on "The Score" which was on a local AM station (920??)..

So being down in TN, I’m really limited on what Boston radio I can listen to. I listen to the Greg Hill show every morning on the way to work on the weekends, the Ken and Curtis show. That’s all I could take on WEEI. When jones, arcand, and Meggo took over that afternoon slot, it was unlistenable for me, horrible. Turned the Felger and Mazz about a year ago. I know what they are about, but at times make valid points and at times make me laugh. I like Rich Keefe, couldn’t stand listening to Gresh so we shall see.

I never cared for them. The afternoon show is unlistenable with or without Mego. Listening to Wiggy in the morning is like nails on a chalkboard. Here's my analysis of Boston Sports Radio:

Toucher - Doosh
Hardy - along for the ride
Greg Hill - full of himself
Wiggy - cant take the accent, terrible grammar, and stupid takes
Curtis - decent on the weekends.
Gresch - has always annoyed me even when he was back with Zolack
Fauria - also annoys me.
Bertrand - beta male who thinks he's an alpha. Has morphed into a doosh
Zolack - Ok. Obviously has good insight on football
Jones - Annoying A-hole
Arcand - sucks

Felger is a very good host, who knows how to stir up interest. He is open about his agenda to drive the discussion and does a great job facilitating and agitating. He is good, I can't listen to that show due to Mazz and Murray. Who both think their contribution should be constant angry fan rants about most topics. Too bad Mazz has lost his way, he has real knowledge from his days as a sports writer. Dim Jim Murry, on the other hand, is a delusional hipster who loves to hear himself talk.

I personally loved Christian, Lou, and Glenn. I thought they were great and Lou was pretty funny.. especially with his angry Lou takes.. he was hilarious with the bill interviews.

I listen to WEEI here and there but all the (so-called) "talent" are simply interchangeable parts to me. If it weren't for these threads in this forum talking about all the changes, I honestly doubt I would have even noticed the shake up.

Yea after Gerry got throat cancer the show lost it's fastball. Meterparel was OK. Minihane was a love/hate

Dale and Holley were pretty good .. knowledgeable ... they stuck to relevant topics of the day or week.

Best show. I even liked Dale and Eddie.

Loved the 'Big Show' .... Ordway DeOssie, Smerlas, Pete Sheppard ... the Whiner Line ... worth the listen.

What was also good back in the day they would bring in Mazz, Shaughnessy, Felger and other local writers on the beat.

I now live in NC. All the shows on both stations have their shows available as podcasts. Each hour is its own podcast. It is the best ways to listen to any of the shows. You can pick and choose what segments you listen to and avoid ones you don't care about. Even if I was still living in Mass, it would be the only way I would listen to any show on either station. You have to wait an hour or two for them to post each hour, but it is well worth the wait.
