While Maye has a lot to work on, there’s no point keeping him on the sidelines.
The deal is, there is nobody in front of him that is preventing him from playing today. They took him #3 overall for a reason. Mac Jones played when he was the 15th overall pick. There’s no excuse.Every snap he plays, good bad or ugly, makes him better next year.
Every snap he sits slows down his development.

When did “we” want brissett to play?We went from wanting Brissett to hold down the job as Maye learns to demanding that Maye start right away and it’s only the second preseason game. Lol.
Maybe not you but that’s all I heard after he was drafted. When did “we” want brissett to play?
I guess I just wonder in which way he’s not ready. He was really executing the offense brilliantly out there. His throws were beautiful and he was handling pressure very well. I didn’t see any issues with confusion or not knowing what to do or anything like that. He got through his reads perfectly fine and quickly. So what’s left to be learned? I’m not necessarily arguing for him to play, I just don’t know. He looks NFL ready to my novice eye.It was one preseason game. We need to stop it.
Even if Brissett is a disaster. You do not play Maye until he is ready. You don't risk screwing the kid up so we can win 7-8 games or possibly less.
Stop looking at everything about this year. This team is thinking beyond this year. I would rather go 0-17 and let Maye sit if he truly isn't ready than to rush him out there and have him develop bad habits that he can never break.
If he is ready and he is the best option, start him. If they believe it is better for his long term prospects to sit him even if it is only for a month, then sit him. The primary focus is trying to make Maye a franchise QB, not win games this year.
Was thatv the case for mahommes? He did well to sit for a year. Maye 100% needs to sit until at least Brissett gets hurt, which is pretty much a foregone conclusionEvery snap he plays, good bad or ugly, makes him better next year.
