Pay Judon

So what you're saying is that Judon's signing bonus means nothing? Then why did he agree to play for a mere $1,000,000 "salary" in 2021?

Judon got paid $54,000,000 for 4 years. That's close to $14 Million per year. If his signing bonus wasn't in there, he would have made:
2021 - $1 Million
2022 - $7.6 Million
2023 - $7 Million
2024 - $6.5 Million

Why is he only complaining about his "salary" in 2024? He should have gone ballistic in 2021 when he was only making $1 Million.
Even with signing bonus, he is underpaid if you agree he is an elite edge rusher

I have to wonder if Falcons ownership called BB for a Judon reference?

32 million 2 years 25 guaranteed
Come on Wolfie
Get it done.
He is been a good soldier
He is ridiculously underpaid
Would be lucky to get a 4th rounder in a trade which is nothing

The team needs him. Not signing him is a clear tanking indication
That ship has sailed sadly Sam.

His injury last year pretty much ruined his chances of cashing in one more time. It will be interesting to see how his last few years pan out and how much the Falcons will pay him for it. FWIW, a torn bicep muscle is not easy to recover from to a point where you can bull your way around a 325 lb tackle or tackle a 235 lb RB shooting around the edge.

Also, it should be noted that he wasn't underpaid in 2021 when he signed his 4 year contract. His FA contract was the 3rd highest FA LB contract that year with only Bud Dupree (5 years/$85 Million - $17 Million/year) & Leonard Floyd (4 years/$64 Million - $16.25 Million/year). How much of that money did those two see & how much are they making today?

We have very different understandings of sunk cost and compensation.

Judon looks at what he is being PAID in CASH this year and apparently refuses to play for that amount. Sure, it may be FAIR for the team to point out that much of this year's compensation was given to him in 2021. The team could have "forced" Judon to play out his contract with no increase. An unhappy Judon might have been willing to sit out a couple of gains and accept the fines.

In any case, Judon was worth nothing to the 2025-2027 playoff team unless he was willing to sign a reasonable extension. Throwing an extra million or two just for this year wouldn't change that dynamic.

The handling of Judon has been downright disrespectful. He's their best player on D, yet all the other players get paid? Spare me their age compared to his, they are not more deserving than Judon. If they aren't going to pay him, trade him to a damn contender or a team that will pay him.
Judon didn't play last year due to an injury so I understand the team's position. And when he showed up Mayo at practice it was time for him to go. He successfully shot his way out of Foxboro.

I don't really care what players make but I'll be curious to see what the Falcons offer him.

It was definitely a tough break for Judon. The timing of his injury was a killer but he did end up with a suitor.

One of the things that bothers me about player contracts is the Revis approach. Get a top deal, have most of the money up front and then ***** that you're underpaid the last year.

Mayo showing how out of touch he is. Says the Patriots have done fine without a premier pass rusher for years because of game planning. Why do you think that is Jerod? There were two reasons….
