What's interesting is that the Bill homers are now becoming the most critical and the majority of posters that were perceived as the most critical are loving everything the Pats are currently doing. This is some Twilight Zone ****.
While Bill clearly looked like he was on burnout and we needed a change, this was not the change I had in mind. I don't like the direction the franchise is heading at all. We were lucky to have the run we had and now it's time to come back down to Earth with the rest of the Franchises struggling to put wins together on a consistent basis.
Bob doesn't like looking bad and will throw Mayo under the bus by the end of year 2 if they get worse. I guarantee the media and fans will be asking whether firing Bill was a massive mistake if this happens.
I really hope I am wrong too, but if this team sucks (as it seems evident) and they chose to leave 43 million of cap unspent it’s hard to call it anything but a tank. Now I’m not saying they will go out and try to lose games, I’m saying they will lose because ownership chose to send them out with a partial team against teams that did everything they could to out the best roster together.
Some much for that argument. The 2024 Pats will not have Judon for 17 games. The 2023 Pats did not have Judon and Gonzalez for 13 games. They are back for 2024 and thats an improvement.
$50M+ now.$43,000,000 says it didn’t.
Well my thinking is Kraft refused to spend this year so you are looking at a 2-4 win season, so he surely won’t spend next year either. They seem intent on sitting Maye so he will struggle on a bad team next year. After trading down to acquire a bunch of picks Mayes second year of playing in 27 will get them to maybe 6 wins then Mayo is fired and with a new regime they will start trying to win in 27.Gotcha! Many think when some use the word tank, it is meant done intentionally ie let's go out and lose games as you mentioned and I am guilty of that, and hearing it meant like this helps. =) Tbh, looking at it this way it looks like it's going to be a what, 4 year+ tank? Blehhhhhhh...
Right because Judon wanted money, let some other sucker team that cares about winning pay him, we are doing 2024 the cheapest, that’s our win.$50M+ now.
1) So you are counting in no injuries this year? We won 1 game with those guys.
2) brissett is 18/30 and his trans had better rosters around him.
3) we were 2-6 with him and he is currently injured
4) guy is gone too DT is weak
5) every team drafts. Making your picks doesn’t improve you in relation to the other 31 teams
6) even you didn’t buy that one.
Missing on 2 guys that would have cost you 10 mill while sitting in 43 and upgrading nothing isn’t trying. Signing their own us status quo if a 4 win team. Signing some big your own AND UPGRADING THR WEAKNESSES is trying.
1. Yes the return of Gonzo and Judon is welcomed. Which players are you assuming will be injured this year (there are always injuries) that you are comparing to the return of Gonzo and Judon? Or are you not addind a "Minus loss of 2 or 3 key players to injury" to your list?
6. AVP is not a better OC than O'Brien. Not close. In Cleveland AVP was not even calling offensive plays because the HC did not trust him.
You said that is 5 things, but in your post did not list 5 things. Your post listed 5 positive things and one negative thing. 5 -1 = 4.
When has a team's draft picks played amazing as rookies, a bunch of FA signings integrated perfectly, and a 2nd year QB led a team to a Super Bowl? With this coaching staff?Judon is gone! You win.
But project 2027?
Nah, not buying it....project 2025....sure.
Why would they spend next year if they didn’t spend this year?Judon is gone! You win.
But project 2027?
Nah, not buying it....project 2025....sure.
The 6 included a negative point - Barmore out for the year. You can't add a negative to go from 5 to 6 and then subtract the negative to go from 6 back to 5. You have to add up the positives, there were 5, and then subtract the negative, there was 1, to get to 4. Think about it for a minute. It was 6-1 = 5.
But now that Judon is gone....OK make that 5-1 = 4.
Still, "Project 2027"?
I am old enough to remember the 2001 season. Things can turn around really really fast in the NFL.
Why would they spend next year if they didn’t spend this year?
As bad as they are going to be this year, why would they spend next year suddenly?
They will draft #1 back to back years, trade them away for multiple picks then starry over with the new coaching staff in 2027.
They will want to hire a high profile coach so they will have to promise to spend to the cap or they’ll end up with mick Lombardi or someone like that.

Come on. There were over 70 players who would have held this team. Why would you think next years pool would be better?Better FA pool for starters.
I listed 6 minus 1 = 5. And then Judon was traded and I told Andy he won...but we are still getting Gonzo back. So, it is 4.5.
And I disagreed about AVP being a downgrade and accounting for likely injuries.
Round up the 4.5 to 5 and call it a day, Sir!
Here are your 6. One of the 6, #4, is a minus (not a positive) which is the loss of Barmore. I do not think losing Barmore is a positive so it can not be counted in your list of positives. So you listed 5 positive things (positive in your mind) #1, #2, #3, #5, and #6, and 1 negative thing, #4. You could also say you listed 5 improvements and 1 setback. 5 positive things (I assume losing Barmore is not a positive) minus the loss of Barmore = a net total of 4 positive things.1.) Return of Gonzalez/Judon.
2.) Return of mediocre QB play which is an upgrade over Jones/Zappe.
3.) Eventual return of Bourne.
4.) Minus loss of Barmore.
5.) Year 2 leap for guys like Gonzo, White, Sow, Pop, Baringer, and maybe Ryland.
6.) AVP as an OC....got to be better than BoB/Patrica/Judge the last two years.
That is 5 things.....
Bengal? But of course no sbWhen has that ever happened? What SB team stunk to get high picks and turned around and won a SB?
What current top contender followed that route?
